When will the concert hype end?

Featured Replies

It seems everyone can sell out these days and even sell out whilst commanding high prices.

Even people like Gracie Abrams and Tate McRae's tours are more successful than MPGs from the 2010s tours.

Olivia Rodrigo's Guts tour made more money per date than a legend like Beyonce's Mrs Carter tour and Gaga's Monster Ball Tour.

Lorde has gone from 1500-3000 capacity venues to now selling out arenas in seconds (despite Solar Panels flopping)

It seems like everyone is making huge amounts of money and every tour is so successful.

But when will this craze end?

Living in the Moment and making memories is what matters now. It will stay like that until no one can afford this anymore.

Also want to add that unless you have good seats you can barely see a thing

Even a front row seat at a stadium concert = you still can't see a thing unless you're standing at the front of a barricade

and the sound systems/quality at pretty much every concert is awful

it sounds like concerts aren't for you and you prefer atrl.net

Music connects us as people, its our escape in this life. Plus many people currently are afraid of "missing out", which only means tours cause much traction nowadays.

And honestly, I'm happy to see many artists going on these amazing tours, especially in this state of the world. We need to dance and celebrate while we still can.

When Trump gets the **** out of the office or RECESSION, whichever comes first!

However, when the world is at war , escapism helps take away tension from our daily lives and immerse you into a different reality even for a split second. It's ******* SADD that this is the current state of our the USA!

Idk and idc cause as long as I get to see my faves I will. I'm not gonna let the state of the world ruin my enjoyment of live shows and music. I don't care who it is I'm gonna go and have fun. :coffee2:

I mean we gotta adjust both Gaga's and Bey's to inflation to paint a more accurate picture of this scenario.

MSCWT average per show: $1,740,151 -> 2025 value: $2,396,286

Monster Ball average per show: $1,120,197 -> 2025 value: $1,647,987

Guts Tour average per show so far: $1,943,158

But yeah, I do agree there's a craze, but mainly based on selling out and people able to do stadiums for example.

Tours are huge productions these days in ways they never were before since it seems to be an artist's main source of revenue other than brands/sponsorships etc. It pays for them to invest and charge more. It's also become the funnest way to experience an album you love so unless the industry changes I don't see that changing anytime soon, unless pricing continues to increase and more people reach their limits

or the next Pandemic.  Hopefully this won't occur under the current regime :WAP:

We should be thankful that in an era of social media and internet culture that people still want to go in person to experience something in real life

As the digital world encroaches more aspects of our lives. The demand for offline experiences will only increase

Which is a great thing. Stan culture is too used to see some succeed and others fail that they think it's off when everyone is winning.

Its the new bubble of the music industry. In the 90s, it was CDs, in the 00s and early 10s, it was ITunes. Now its tours and part of it is because the industry makes more revenue this way than depending through streams hence higher production costs + consent manufacturing to drive up concert demand= $$$$$

Hopefully soon because one of the consequences of that hype are the insane prices, even mediocre live acts are overcharging for their mess of shows.

avg per show is kind of meaningless tho no? If you factor in total attendees the gap between Olivia and the legends becomes even more clear..

per wiki and adj. for inflation numbers

GUTS $184.59M / 1,432,993 = $128.84 per attendee
Ms. Carter  $317.86M / 2,049,692 = $155.11 per attendee

Monster Ball $305.09M / 1,583,999 = $192.65 per attendee

It depends. Adj for inflation is a good point, but more money is still more money.

inflation quite literally means it very much is... not tho

What a great time in 90s and early 00s before internet, and only mtv , concerts also so rare , only britney did lot of tour dates , but not on big venues

People go to concerts to have fun. Entertainment industry is designed for regular people to have escapism. People will always pay expensive tickets to get to see their favorite artist. I'm sorry but for me to pay high ass tickets you have to be a great performer because **** that ****......
