Hot take but 1989 is extremely middle of the road. Max’s productions are immaculate but lyrically Taylor didn’t really deliver much of anything to the table. And the lack of any true Swiftian bridges besides OOTW is truly dumbfounding.

The fact that the bonus tracks are three of the highlights from the album kinda says it all. 
 

I do actually like everything on 1989, but it’s so apparent at times that the material is beneath her.
