Also like "Winning", which almost sounds like a gospel song in certain moments when it's supposed to be this ratchet twerk song. Nothing wrong with Gospel but Top 40 radio doesn't care about gospel and also you're literally making a twerk song????? 

 

The cursing she does here and there in her songs also surprisingly doesn't help. Then there's moments when she holds back the word and it just sounds so cringe. Either you curse or you don't. It just  sounds so corny when she holds back almost like she's trying to protect a non existent innocence. Like woman you are near damn 40 you are allowed to CUSS. You are CIARA. Even Taylor Swift is cursing with her full chest now. 

There's  also a lot of juveline themes in her music. A lot of her songs have the mind and spirit of a teenager girl trapped in a 40 year old woman's body. "2 in Luv" and "Type a Party" are good examples. No grown woman is talking about waiting for a text back, having a little crush or throwing a party. It's so Nickelodeon. How We Roll is very much that too but I think the Chris Brown Ciara link up moment is what saves the aura of the song. 

 

But that's just lyrical content. Then you have her vocals which I've noticed have changed dramatically from her last album to this one. Idk how to put it but it almost sounds like she lost her voice but didn't fully get it back. Her voice sounds strained and she seems to want to sing so fast that it almost sounds like she's singing ahead of the beat. She favors going for a higher pitch in notes but it sounds squeaky. It's like they are trying to make her sound as feminine and youthful as possible but once again it just doesn't feel authentic and it doesn't compliment her vocal style. We've seen Ciara sing chest and lower pitch and that's when her voice shines. 
 

Lastly, then you have the productions. A lot of her beats sound like mini me versions of her bigger songs. "This Right Here"  and "Dance With Me" are good examples. With the exception of "Low" a lot of her production feels predictable or like reheated nachos from another artist. For example "Run It Up" sounds like a song you'll hear on a football video game menu track. Like it was specifically made for that Instrumentally. Vocals and lyrics are just cringe and sound forced.

What's also sad is that Ciara had the 20th anniversary of Goodies as a big moment to capitalize from but reduced it all to nickname her album Cici. Which is technically the EP with a few new songs. 
 

1. I would have started the era with a tell all documentary of her career. If she couldn't  get Hulu or Netflix to distribute it she could have just done a documentary series on YouTube. It's a free platform and she has a channel with 6 million subscribers she could cater to. This would open up conversation, transparency and build an audience that could have potentially brought more momentum to Ciara's project. Best part; she would be in the drivers seat to tell her story since she's not restricted by a label system. But Instead we got a string of podcast interviews (at random) where you can clearly tell they are trying to land a plane with no runway present. 
 

2. She should have done a greatest hits performance to start the era along with the docu series. BET was shady by not offering her an Icon award. This would have been a perfect way to reintroduce herself to the black audience who are always wishy washy with her. However, if not BET another network or platform to craft a greatest hits performance. Not just any performance though. Have looks and moments during the performance that remind people why she is loved as a performer instead of refrying the same 8 count and back track setlist she's been doing as of late. Get a live band and background singers to elevate the performance not just a couple of back up dancers. Performance art is a lost cause with her these days. That's something I thought I'd never say. 
 

3. I would have crafted a concept visual album. Something more impactful than a dumb nickname no one even uses anymore. The "Go cici go cici go" was something people did but it doesn't hold that much weight to name a whole album after it. 

I had this example where she could name her album "Eternal". Her legacy is eternal ect (I could go more into this for the sake of keeping things as short as I can). Have all the visuals and everything done for it BEFORE hand that way it all feels cohesive and not scattered or like she's just trying to chase a hit. It's like she loses the plot of her own album and that has shown the last 2 album releases. 
 

4. Upon album release (a couple of weeks) drop a lead single or two; choose the best two songs on the project. Have them sent to radio for promotion for audience reach and then let the rest of the visual album do the talking. Not having your fans wait MONTHS between all these random singles to then say oh "this album is a deluxe of an EP I released 2 years ago". It took me 5 years and a labor of love to do and literally have nothing to show for that.

A lot of the stuff you suggested would be so dope if she did this! Unfortunately I dont think she has much vision for what she even wants to do herself........ 

 

I dont even think she has much of a Manager or a legit Creative Director to even help her execute all of that. I think her team is like 5 ppl or even less than that. 

 

She simply doesn't care....

 

I'd love to hear more of the "Eternal" stuff you were talking about

Not yet. She's probably still trying to figure it out.

Not to keep piling it on thick, but I agree with capitalizing on the 20th anniversary and the missed opportunities there. A documentary or even a book would've been a nice way to celebrate her career, get tongues wagging, and lay the foundation for whatever is/was to come next. Mariah did a similar buildup by utilizing TEOM's anniversary to lead into her new album. This Right Here could've been a nice bonus track on a Goodies Reissue since Jazze was so pivotal in her early career and it fits 2005 more so than 2025. 
 

At this point, I think a career pivot is necessary IF she's not interested in the music. Leverage her celebrity (which is stronger than ever) and get her a daytime tv show similar to Jennifer Hudson. She's got a much better personality and I think audiences would eat that up. That way, she can tie in all of the family/husband stuff that she wants to promote in a way that feels relevant and consistent to build a brand. Let's talk about fashion, relationships, food, working out, have some musical guests and friends… the avenue is literally right there. 

She really wasted the 20th anniversary of Goodies. She easily could've pivoted the Missy Elliott tour into her own "Goodies" anniversary tour. It would've been a good idea to build interest and goodwill. Too bad she was too busy making her worst album ever.

I agree, dont get me wrong.....I love her relationship with her husband and family. But she doesn't need to mention her man and kids in almost every interview. She's so out of touch. Like girl how you signing an artist when you can't even get your own career in order. Doing all these side hustles that are going absolutely nowhere. The only thing I actually am proud is her rum venture. That made absolute sense!
