People were starting to get tired of her antics. When she released trailers for the MV of her f*ngering herself

  • Releasing another ballad as a single right after going number #1 around the world with a power ballad was an awful idea. The video is also to blame here, it was the first time during the Bangerz era t

  • this song is soooo gorgeous and has aged like fine wine! in reality, they waited just a little bit too long to release a third single, and all the features she was doing between Wrecking Ball and Ador

No the video leaked

Cause it's not THIS smash hit:

:clap3: from the president of broski nation herself

I even forgot it was a single. It was a slow ballad and the only "promo" this single had was the music video and she moved on from this immediately

3x Platinum selling singles are flops? It's 4x eligible too I think.

Sure it's an underperformance compared to the other two but it's really not as bad as most people make out.

The video killed it mostly, I don't think the GP really care if two ballads are released one after another… This era was pushed largely by visuals/performances (breaking YouTube records) and this one was seen as boring, controversial, and unnecessary.

Miley's career at that moment in time thrived off circumventing expectations. Following up "Wrecking Ball" with "Adore You" wasn't really unexpected. It's also just generally not a very strong single, it always gave me pre-order instant gratification track vibes.

Wrecking Ball was too huge and it overshadowed this song IMO. People were also starting to get annoyed with her.

It's a boring song but it's cute

she needed a feature or collab as the third single imo

This song was so much better and a perfect single after Wrecking Ball success

It's probably top 3 worst single choice of all time for a MPG. who the h thought it would be a great idea to release this after WB and WCS I still do not understand

Lol, but this.

With a better music video, it would definetely have performed better.
