I think the contention is with the word 'Art'. I don't see AI as art, but more like advanced photoshop.

 

No one ever saw photoshop as 'Artistic' and it was the same, taking other people's work to create something new and photoshop became normalised and respected to a degree.

 

 

You know.. stealing from artists aside (which is my main gripe with it), there's something soulless about it. Even looking at the images if they weren't unethically sourced, there's a human energy that they're devoid of. It's a bit uncanny. 

 

Don't like it at all.

art isn't only about the final product, but also about the creative process, the artist's experience and the emotions that were needed to create it. it's an entire process that can take up to years of hard work.

 

needless to say that it does not surprise me how AI "art" has been mostly used and praised by right wingers who have been belittling any form of genuine art for most of their lives.
