Shallow/ASIB followed years of flop/underperformances. While not an instant smash, it took many weeks of various small victories (box office, awards, media blitz) culminating in the week of the Oscar win and #1. Gaga was back, the GP loved her, she was winning, and she did it while flexing some versatility and a re-invention.

 

Fast forward to today and while the album isn't out yet and it's still early, Abracadabra is looking like it's gonna be a bonafide smash (solo too).  Unlike with ASIB, she is doing it with her signature sound/look. 

 

Assuming the momentum remains, which era is more pleasing, enjoyable, and satisfying to watch?

The ASIB soundtrack holds a special place in my heart but Abacadabra is everything I most love about Gaga.

ASIB produced hands down her best ballads (Shallow, ARUTW, ITA, INLA).. all GP favourites. MAYHEM is shaping up to be her best dance record.

I don't enjoy Shallow. Abra is better and fits Gaga well. This song is what we hoped she'd serve for the last 14 years. It took a long time but it's here, it's a great pop song.
