modeblock Posted 6 hours ago Posted 6 hours ago I rihmember being so shook by her ten years ago. Look at the material: LIVE slay: Confidence. Beauty. Talent. Bops. All of this is giving MPG. What happened? I'm not being shady. She should have stayed big, she has it all.
prettyinpink940 Posted 6 hours ago Posted 6 hours ago She still gets a mid-sized hit every now and then though, right? Not everyone can become a global superstar.
MonsterNavy Posted 6 hours ago Posted 6 hours ago its never too late for her. she's hot, very talented and young if sabrina's basic ass can make it, anyone can 1 2 1
YourFavoriteWeapon Posted 6 hours ago Posted 6 hours ago She didn't release Sundown or TG4M and deservingly flopped, but I will always support her for being a staunch misandrist/anti-FSSW advocate/Johnny Depp hater

pavi Posted 6 hours ago Posted 6 hours ago (edited) 1. She had the bad luck to start getting hits right when pop's dominance was over. Especially when EDM faded as well, getting hits became harder with her style, especially in the US, and she was not established enough to keep herself afloat or make a comeback when pop took over again. 2. Her material, aside from some of the singles and an album track here and there, is subpar and/or faceless. Good singles can only get you so far, for a large fanbase you need better album material and interest in your personality. 3. Long waits in between releases for this climate, mostly because of bad label support. She has the performance capabilities and the voice. She deserved more! Edited 6 hours ago by pavi
KatyPrismSpirit Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago She should just continue be more consistent. Waiting 4 years in between albums is not a good look for an artist like her. Especially if the material is basic. Also, she doesn't show any growth as an artist. What she releases now could've also been on her debut album. At least Dua Lipa progresses artistically
Nido Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago She doesn't have the Taylor Swift association like Olivia, Sabrina, Ice Spice + her brand isn't strong enough to distinguish her from being a typical, pretty Euro dance-pop girl who does DJ collabs. She's also not a fashion industry darling like Dua, Charli, etc so...
Riverbank Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago Her career is basically what Dua's career would've been if she went from her debut straight to RO. It all comes down to bad management and mid music
Kiss It Better Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago her first mistake was not releasing Sundown and TG4M in summer 2017 when her peers (at the time) were smashing with New Rules, Havana and Meant to Be and instead she released the bland Don't Let Me Be Yours, sure Symphony was a hit but it was more of Clean Bandit feat Zara especially Sundown cause Wizkid and that sounds was the thing back then
WalkingOnAir Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago (edited) I think it has more to do with bad management/poor choices by her team. She's a very talented and beautiful woman, for me she's a perfect pop star. And if I'm not mistaken, she insinuated exactly that at some point, that she was "only interested in being a pop star" in the sense of getting on stage, sing and dance to her songs, slay her audience but not living her job 24/7 like those who follow the singer-songwriter vein. And there's nothing wrong with that, but for it to work, her team should have chosen stronger songs to be part of her albums. She has tons of unreleased music that are far better than several songs which made the cut. And her albums rollouts were also a bit messy. I wish she had a more strategic team behind her, with the right projecting she could've been bigger. Edited 2 hours ago by WalkingOnAir
blown away Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago She was on the right path with Lush Life smashing around the globe. Then with Never Forget You she also cracked the US charts and after that it all went wrong. They focused too much on having another US hit instead of holding on to Europe and Oceania where she'd already has 2/3 hits. Ain't My Fault was a small misstep chart-wise in those markets and instead of course correcting they kept going for US chart succes and focused on the forgettable and bland So Good instead of I Would Like, which actually had built some momentum in Europe and Oceania. After the album release there was an organic interest in both Sundown and (especially) TG4M. Instead of releasing one of those two songs they went with the awful mess that is Don't Let Me Be Yours and after that they chose the 'I don't wanna shower even if I stink' song. Both the US and the world said NO to both of these songs. In the meantime Dua came swinging by with New Rules, IDGAF and One Kiss and snatched Zara's spot.
