So are JO1, they headline kcon japan regularly, they work with Korean producers on a lot of their music, they've promote Korean versions of their songs almost every time they've been on a music show in Korea, their label lapone is a sublabel of CJEN. They brought out kep1er and ZB1 at the Tokyo Dome at their recent labels concert there.

I know we had beef in the past or whatever but I want to be clear that I genuinely believe what they do isn't kpop. Produce shows already were too close to j-idol trite with the rigged zero talent visual-dominated lineups and the music itself being an afterthought. Doing that but in Japan and with Japanese music is well past the line of no longer being kpop imo.

 

XG are a kpop group working out of Japan, it feels like they belong in the convo with aespa and IVE. joi doesn't fit in with stray animals and bots

XG did amazing, I did not know they were so good live and their outfits were outstanding too!

 

I will not comment about Jennie (she was always my fave in Blackpink and I loved her album), but I'm tired of trying to have any normal discussion about the girls' performances with BLINKS.

JO1 has covered both bts and skz better than their original performers.  SKZ and BTS don't hold a candle to JO1 vocally and don't have a dancer in their group than can hold a candle to Ren. JO1 started a new wave of idols in Japan that are talent first. XG wouldn't have been formed if not for JO1's explosive success.

Avex was bankrolling the training/creation of XG as early as 2017 because their joint ventures with big 3 groups were universally more popular than their own idol attempts other than AAA(who only ever happened because of cross promotion with One Piece and Kamen Rider, we still stanned though ). Avex were the first company to officially recognize that kpop was outcompeting the entire world in the pop music sphere and take steps to learn from their methods. joi and their success has literally nothing to do with XG.

??? AAA's biggest hits in Japan have nothing to do with ONE PIECE or Kamen Rider. Put some respect on the only coed idol group who could last more than 3 years

jennie's biggest weakness is her stamina

she should've fixed it already tbh

BP peaked at debut then had a repeaked around 2019 through Coachella performance wise.

 

They looked better as a group, not so much as a solo performer  

 

@JO1s you made me second guess myself so I checked their stats and Climax Jump is definitely AAA's best selling song by a very  wide margin and they went from theater act to arena act after it released.

both of these hits are sitting at 100mil+ views on YouTube. If they had streaming certifications back then, these would be certified higher.

okay but seriously. why would XG, who have 0 korean member and does not sing in korean, be considered as kpop but not JO1 when they sing in korean and is literally under one of the main companies that spread hallyu around the world?

My original point was that avex's only huge idol success had their start because two of the most beloved IPs in the country peaked around AAA's OSTs. Obviously they went on to do much bigger and better things after that initial push. XG was a response to the failures AFTER AAA.

If Republic or Interscope dropped an American girl crush group that trained in Korea for 5 years and focused on performances and visuals, nobody would hesitate to call it kpop. Like I said, the produce format is already kinda getting away from the kpop system before we relocate it to another country with its own record industry.
