The jpop-fication of kpop is in full force

First Yena, now Unis :jonny5:

The organic energy of Blackpink Coachella 2019 will never be topped by another K-pop act. Every act has failed to replicate this moment including BP themselves. Zero production, just the girls giving it their 110% percent in a way they don't often do (especially Rose & Jennie who just went the **** off). And I'm not a BP stan by any means but it just had this undeniable, scrappy energy to it that made it transcend the boundaries of just K-pop fans and is what made them the first girl group to build some western GP recognition

Truly a legendary moment in K-pop.

Calling JO1 talentless when their Music show performances are more live than Blackpink's cochlea performances. Long Covid

Complaing about me posting a Japanese Group that works with Korean producers and are under a Korean Label and promote in Korea. But not complaining about XG whose main label is Japanese and sing in english, or NCT wish who are just as Japanese as JO1 but got shipped back to Korea because they flopped in Japan, or NiziU or WayV a Chinese group.

You Girl group and SM stans are hypocritical at best and racist at worst...

did you just reply to my post to talk, spam and shove your unknown cheap seventeen wannabes :deadbanana2:  idgaf. you're shameless

Let me cleanse this thread from Lisa's lip-sync performance with mubling and a few moments of struggle vocals with actual vocal talent

Truly a legendary moment in K-pop.

people don't want to hear it, but it's true.

they were also getting bigger in the west by that time so a coachella performance felt like a somewhat organic next big step for them.

meanwhile these days companies are sending rookies to these big stages.

but that's the thing with kpop, once something works or something is special, the whole industry wants to have a piece of it. and that cheapens it.

100%. But I think we can still hold on to the original trendsetting moment, whatever it might be, without it feeling cheapened.

Whether its Blackpink Coachella, NewJennies debut culturally resetting the whole industry etc

When the MEOVV EP is the 3 songs they have released so far, and 2 others songs, one of which is the pre-release single...... :bunny:

I just rewatched Enchella and Heeseung, Jay and Sunoo absolutely devored all their notes :jonny6: All of them did amazing tho. I was really surprised by Jake, he has a super nice vocal tone and he basically was a dozen back in I-land but he improved so much and now he is a natural :pancake:

just jennie and rose jumping together backstage before starting D4, like you cant replicate the sheer excitement and energy of them making organic history and pushing the frontier. jennie giving 120% like it was her last day alive, she truly did not need to perform ever again

SM and Hybe think smuggling/forcing their groups on stage with media play will commend the same respect and cultural relevancy :dies:

Not even pannchoa could made up something bad about ENGODPEN'S performance :hippo:

Stray Kids are kinda doing it better than any other group that tried the US and worldwide pandering. They did all that without changing who they were or their concept. Most of the groups usually water down their music or concept.

YG acts is an exception as their songs are already made for an US/WW pandering.

It's because JYP had a long-game strategy with SKZ, by focusing on helping them build a loyal global fanbase first, rather than chasing Western success from day one. A lot of people don't realize that SKZ barely got any traditional promotion, not globally or even domestically, outside of their own YouTube variety content for years. They didn't even have a U.S. distributor until 2022 which was 4 years after their debut, and their first official English single came literally 6 years into their career last year. Meanwhile, there are groups with way less Western popularity who already have multiple English singles under their belt and appearing on all these random US shows.

SKZ managed to build organic popularity in the West, and whenever they show up at major events, it's usually because they were personally invited, not because their label bought a slot or forced a media push. They are actually marketed more exclusive than people actually realize. Like the were rumors about the Coachella staff wanting them to possibly headline Coachella this year, but SKZ has their own North America stadium tour starting in 1 month, so it wasn't possible.

In short, they managed to pioneer their own genre, found their global niche audience even outside of Kpop as well, and expanded upon it, and the rest became history.

HYBE, on the other hand, kind of fumbled some of their groups especially TXT by pushing them too hard for mainstream Western success rather than first solidifying a global fanbase. Instead of nurturing the sound and identity that got people into TXT in the first place, they kept forcing exposure in all the wrong places before the demand was even there, and forced them to release radio fodder music.

Another example is how SM handled NCT 127 and SuperM in the US, and the result felt just as unnatural, trying to manufacture global hype without letting it grow on its own.

the audacity to compare le sserafim's talentless irrelevant asses to lisa :deadbanana2:

none of the le sserafim members are ever getting a relevant solo stage gig anywhere in the world btw :deadbanana2:

atleast compare that talentless group to pinkchella19 and pinkchella23 aka 2 of the best and most iconic peformances in kpop's history but nope those irrelevant talentless le sserafim girlies (or any kpop girl grouo) dont stand a chance cause they dont have the talent, charisma, the hits, the star power like blackpink :foxaylove:(yes, I know they're messy and lazy performers these days but they were HUNGRY as **** back in 2019 and ate pinkchella 2023 too)

also, blackpink is literally the reason why yall kpopies are even talking about coachella in kpop up to this day. put some respect on their name!

Both have the same level of talent (hint, it's none)
