I don't think we'll see a TD this decade to the same magnitude that TD was in terms of hit singles, but the closest must be:

Future Nostalgia

SOUR

Planet Her

Short n' Sweet

SOS

I feel like in terms of aesthetics and the pop bombasticity of it all, FN, PH & SNS feel the closest.

  • Nah. TD and SNS had the biggest female song of the years they were released. SOS FAILED to do that.

  • You might have to rethink that...   This is Kill Bills certifications which is bigger than Espressos:   sales Australia (ARIA)[108] 6×

Isn't FN considered the TD of the 2020s? Two hits that were the biggest female hits of their respective years (Don't Start Now, and Levitating)  Third-most streamed female album of all time?

There are 15 new tracks. It should be counted as a whole new album.

Why does she make it a reissue anyway, instead of a new era?

I have the same exact question. What exactly is a "reissue" even?

People talk about Short N Sweet being the Teenage Dream of the 2020s but SOS is literally right there

How so? SOS' only smash is kill bill

SZA deserves every ounce of success. Her music is sublime :heart2:

I also don't get the reissue though. Or, maybe I just don't get the digital rollout. iTunes (yes, I am old and stubborn) served me LANA in the entrity when I already owned SOW. Why not just add the songs or make it a seperate album? Confusing to me.

But after my old ass managed to just buy the Lana tracks, I have been bopping and swaying the whole day :clap3:

Snooze spent 70 weeks on the Hot 100.

Solana, Taylor. :clap3:

Also wow at Bing Crosby, he came very close to surpassing Bublé.

Local hit i fear

Christmas super strong this year, which wa expected, but damn almost 100k for Michael is crazy, and very shocked with Mr. Crosby

it's interesting that of the 10 biggest Christmas albums this week, 9 were recorded last century, but the exception is the biggest one.

IFPI says otherwise.

SZA's numbers are good if you frame it as a deluxe, I was expecting a bit more tho.

where's Billie? i was told that she's outstreaming Taylor who is #5

I don't use that site but based on what was posted it appears to include US numbers...

like how morgan's last night is top 10 on billboard's year end global chart for 2023, but that's mostly from the US. (it was 160 international)

Is #17 a high number for you? And still, most of its units are prob from the US

I said SMASH hit.

Well if you look at the chart Billie is outstreaming her right now based on the SEA numbers posted. Taylor is #5 because of her pure sales

Tortured 24,911 SEA

Hit me hard 30,731 SEA

#17 of all the songs released in 2023? Yes

Are you deliberately being obtuse or what?

That's not really a good indicator. SOS was released in December 2022, so "Snooze" had practically all of 2023 to accumulate chart points.

So saying that it was #17 biggest song of the year isn't entirely accurate, considering there were many bigger songs that year that didn't earn as many chart points simply because they had less time to get points.

Just take a look at some WW peaks of Snooze:

UK: #18

AUS: #21

CAN: #11

SWI: #53

IRE: #49

GER: Did not chart

FR: Did not chart

ITA: Did not chart

SPA: Did not chart

I'm not saying "Snooze" isn't a hit, it is at some extent in some countries, mainly in the US. But it simply wasn't a SMASH.

If you asked people outside the USA if they've heard it, most would likely say no. And it really cannot be compared to any Teenage Dream single in terms of smashness.
