I mean what else did you expect? You can see everybody's public posts even without creating an account. It makes sense to keep them open for the blocked accounts.

This is definitely because majority of Twitter users had him BLOCKED.

Twitter is not revealing the stats but he is very likely the most blocked handle on the platform.

Someone blocked me once just because I responded to one of their tweets about a PS they claimed to have done scenes with, which to this day still confuses me because all I did was ask a simple question But Elon is doing this for petty reasons I'm sure, so I'm still not 100% on board.

I did not search for violent videos, but somehow, people being murdered ended up on my timeline.

The real reason he is doing this is to prevent people from not seeing advertisements or sponsored tweets from brands or people they've blocked.

 

For example, if you get advertisements for gambling on Instagram despite no history gambling in your life nor any interest to, you could block the brand and never get ads from them again.  

Now, if the brand's tweets/ads are public, you'll be forced to see their ads and sponsored posts no matter what.  It's always about the money, and X is in financial ruin because very few advertisers want to advertise on his platform.
