The only thing worse than a flop is a flop that no one cares about. Is 143 iconic like Glitter/blackout/bionic/Artpop/witness? Or is it a no one cares type of flop like lotus/Glory/smile/liberation ?

If she was doing 23-25k I'd say the flop was iconic if she debuts with 37-45k no.

I thought after Smile absolutely no one would care about 143 bombing as expected but due to the range of factors including her huge recurrent streams, long hair, Dr Luke involvement, VMA promo and it being marketed as her true comeback, the stakes felt a lot higher than a non event like Smile. For that reason it feels a lot more like an iconic moment  so much could have gone right but everything went wrong

Exactly this! I feel like there was actually tension and goodwill building for a nice comeback for her and it all crumbling SO fast makes it so much worse than just flopping somewhere without people watching

Um yes it was. It had the bad VMA performance and it coincides with her downfall (eg shaving head etc)
