Leading up to this album, I was always someone who was skeptical why she seemed so popular in the niche side of the pop forums. I've given her some listens before this and the singles she had released before this dropped had me feeling lost at what others saw in her, though I haven't heard anything on this project (I don't think?). I'm about halfway through the album and I am very surprised how good it is. I definitely will be listening to it on repeat this weekend.

'Lights On' is the best song on the album. 

This album is 10/10,i just still dont like the cover, i know im in minority but i wish she released different cover version, one that you can display with your auntie in a car,

normani and i might have the same faves (ciara and brandy) cause album sounds like made by their fan. production is impeccable; its giving timeless and classic

 

sounds suits her vocals, id argue she sounds the best she ever did.

 

critique is to the lyrics the most. its obvious shes trying to cater to 1. what her label/management perceives as "black audience" like lyrics sounded like check off list 

let me mention bad *******, let me mention im thick, let me mention im sexy (almost every song), let me mention i go to strip clubs (??), bling bling, pimping like c (??), shaking ass (??), 2. or I just perceived her wrong. she was giving preppy girl but just like with Chloe, looks and demeanor can be deceiving.

 

album is amazing as a whole, but for listener that wanted her to dig deeper in herself they might have to wait, i think closest song to rawness was distance, but it has too many writers to know, also that is weakest song on the album imo.

 

album is banger after banger and i think she will serve longevity

 

favorite songs: insomnia, take my time, still, grip

duds: distance, 1:59, tantrums, wild side

 

 

 

 

 

'Lights On' is the best song on the album. 

This is impeccable. Hate the new promo shots tho, why is she so obsessed with these bangs omg  

 

Nothing but respect for this effort. I'm glad she listened to herself and worked through her own process. This isn't copy and paste - the vocal production alone gives insight into her artistry. Definitely exceeded my expectations! 

I love this album. This is definitely going on my year end list.

1:59 is the only miss so far. This is the first time I heard it since I wasn't really tracking her for pre-releases.

Will probably grow on me with more listens, though.

I will say that "Motivation" as an opener seaguing into "Big Boy" would've worked well because of the horns, I do miss it but oh well

 

On track #2 now, the production is amazing and her voice is like silk

Normani dropping everyone's expectations so now everyone is surprised and gagging. I'm crying, HER MIND.

Side convo: Candy Paint on the album is WAYYYY BETTER. Why did they release a damn demo? I knew I wasn't crazy. The real version is so GOOD.
