Why have we been settling for less?

Featured Replies

Beyoncé, Ariana, Gaga, Adele are all singers. Very good ones at that. In some cases excellent. We haven't been lacking.

Maybe since they haven’t released, or released something that highlights their vocals, lately Ariana’s comeback feels even more special

Her voice has matured beautifully. She slayed that bridge ugh :wanda:

It seems like soft and whisper singing that's amplified was more popular this decade. But maybe popular tastes are changing finally.

She comes from the school of the Vocal Trinity. Yes, let me repeat that. Vocal Trinity. I know there has been some disrespect going on here regarding that term. :coffee2:

The only thing holding Ariana back from really belting it out are the current music trends. We don't reward technically gifted singers anymore because most tone deaf gays wouldn't be able to sing along.

Honestly we need to go back to the 90s...when it was all about DIVAS, powerful belting vocals like Hero, IWALY etc. Pop girls shouldnt have to have those campy massive stages like those of beyonce and taylor to be commercially successful in touring. One should be able to just have a mike , powerful vocals and still be able to gross 500m on tour. Beyonce and Taylor are setting a bad precedent.

The GP hates vocalists for some reason, could be due to jealousy and insecurity. Ariana had to tone down her vocals to cater to the masses, unfortunately.

the audacity to group Beyoncé with Taylor when she can outsing pretty much anyone in the industry :rip:

I blame Taylor only tbh. At least Bey still has outstanding vocals. Taylor only relies on production.

I think this has more to do with her musical style than wanting to appeal to the masses.

my point was why cant beyonce do adele type shows where she is fully properly clothed on stage and belt vocals like whitney/mariah instead of being half naked twerking unnecessarily while she is pushing 50s. People pay to see her sing live not dance like a stripper.

It’s thanks to Taylor that other similar talentless mediocrity like Tate McGrain and Addison Rain exist :thing:

I can only imagine what a next album would be like if she choose to fully belt out. The fact that there’s no whistle notes, no babys, no yuhs. Girl is in control

or she can do both, like she did for RWT and like she'd done her entire career... if she wants to show off her body and shake her ass why shouldn't she? if anything it makes her an enticing performer that she's versatile enough to do both. adele's shows are such a bore standing there for two hours

The GP hates vocalists cause so many of them are boring. They have vocals but there's nothing groundbreakin or interesting about their personas:giraffe:
And so many of them only sing ballads and slow songs and they feel like music for grannies :giraffe:
We need vocalists again but with vision and interesting-ecletic songs.  We need more Singers like Ariana-Beyonce with great vocals but interesting albums.
Whats the point of someone reachin high notes but their music is a borefest?

I like my pop divas to have multitudes and not be one dimensional, personally

Then lower the ticket prices cuz no one’s gonna pay for 1000$+ tickets for just vocals. I expect full on production for that price. And that’s why Taylor & Bey’s tours are so successful, cuz they deliver an event for that price. That’s the same thing that now happens in the movie industry. People are only gonna pay that much for an event

This is an amazing take, a voice is enhanced by a personality.
