Is Ariana exceeding expectations?

because first week numbers are not really that important in the grand scheme of things and for some reason ATRL never understands this. a hit album is a hit album whether it sells 1M first week of 100k. its clear that her albums always have great longevity even if the first week is not jaw dropping

swifties atrl would never understand what frontloaded means ma good sis

Yeah. This is a album she wanted to put out to hold the fans down for the next year. She debuted with better numbers than her previous album and is eyeing another global #1 hit. The album is also hold

The album is actually real good

The people that were fans but didn't like yes and probably listened to the whole album and was hooked

All the replies laughing at the prediction are in for a surprise as the week passes :gaycat2:

Alot of people wrote her off and doubted her after Yes and?, along with the hate train, no more singles , then she proceeds to drop the album of her career. We are literally watching the GP switch in real time. Her third day is bigger than 30, Sour, Guts, Folklore’s third day. That’s a sign of a great album and a great response.

im pretty sure the debut numbers are gonna update to over 200k+ as well.

calling this "the album of her career" is WILD

she can't even sit with Thank U, Next, Sweetener or Dangerous Woman

As a life long Ari fan I'm shocked. This album is a bore. Her look is edgier than her music.

Why is everyone keep bringing up the projected number based on first day?

Not a good enough excuse, Beyoncé debuted 16 years before Ariana yet managed to pull over 300k while Billie and Olivia managed to do over 200k.

I like Ariana but the bar for her is ridiculously low when it comes to album sales.

Well renaissance, guts & HTE have sold more 100k pure sales while ES relies on on-demand streams. I’m sure she has generated more streams in a week than their albums.

In her career has only 2 albums which debuted with more than 200k sales. Ariana has never been a strong album seller.

Plus Both Olivia and Billie’s debut sold over 300k sales. Beyoncé is an album sales force. So it’s not like Ariana’s situation is tragic.

I love "yes and" so much, happy the GP finally clicked with this song, its gonna become a fan favorite down the line

Single wise yes since she may have 2 #1s from this album

But her first week numbers are still disappointing, she should be doing 200k at least first week.

So when it does 200k, which it will. You going to say it’s good?

debut day isnt all that. her third day on spotify for example is higher than albums like folklore, 30 and GUTS which all debuted higher.

3 album that outsold ES :rip:

Yes I just saw the 3rd day Spotify numbers, really impressive. It seems to be holding up well.

If she does 200k then that would be good. :clap3:

I don't think she is "exceeding" expectations but she isn't flopping either. She's a streaming artist so she'll probably never completely flop anyway. "Yes and" is a #1 but a very small hit. The album sales prediction is "ok", not bad but not impressive either.

Good for her and I am happy she proved me wrong. I honestly did expect to underperform. I only expected at best positions type success which isn’t bad but it’s not super amazing either

quality: check. success: check. promo run (so far): check. i mean she didn't exceed my expectations i know what she's capable of, but i'm sure she did for other people...

some of them are actually enjoying the album but will never admit to it :bird:

lol at the people who were saying the era was gonna flop and she was on her way out now using the “numbers aren’t that great” excuse

ATRL and haters clearly expected her to bomb terribly and decline, the fact that this is on (at least) on par with Positions proves she indeed did better than people were expecting :coffee2:

Ariana is substantially more famous and established than Billie Eilish. She's also way more famous than Olivia and even she hit above 200k. Hell even Nicki did more.

It just doesnt make sense to sell only 185k first week after all those number 1s :rip:

Olivia is coming off of her peak and appeals to kids. Nicki’s fans mass buy - it’s similar to how K-pop boy groups will mass buy. Billie is also very new in her career and a phenomenon in her own right.

If Arianators were big into mass buying, I’m sure she could debut huge. But they typically just stream over long periods of time, which is way better any way.

That would be because Beyoncé’s demographic is from 2003, a crowd that is more used to buying records than younger crowds. P!nk can also pull better pure sales than Ariana but look at Eternal Sunshine’s numbers compared to Trustfall’s.

And I wouldn’t say Ariana’s album numbers are bad. Positions did on-par with Renaissance and if Ariana were to certify her albums, she’d be #36 all-time in the U.S. for females at 17M album units after just 11 years. That’s really good.

7 Rings - Diamond

Thank U, Next - Diamond

Save Your Tears (Remix) - 6x Platinum
Positions - 5x Platinum

Stuck With U - 4x Platinum

Rain On Me - 4x Platinum

Die For You (Remix) - 3x Platinum

Yes, And? - Gold (After two months)

Those flop, forgotten #1s equate to 42.5M singles, or 4.25M albums. You lost, sis :clap3:

Ariana has had how many number 1s in the last few years? Is she not in her peak as well?????? :rip:She is considered an MPG in the vein of Beyonce, Rih, Katy, Tay, Britney etc . Shes seven albums deep and is VERY established with a ton of hits. This was her chance to have big debut like a REAL A-list ***** would and she just.... didn't..

Why do you sound so mad sis? It’s just music. :coffee2:

just listen to it and enjoy. Or if you hate her so much, pay no attention to what she does.
