Is Lacy, on Olivia Rodrigo's sophomore effort GUTS, song of the year? 

 

In her Tiny Desk concert, O-Rod shared how Lacy originally was a poem she wrote for a homework assignment for a poetry class at USC and then she later added a melody to it. It's easily one of the best songs on GUTS, but is it SOTY? 

 

The clever rhymes, the similes, the haunting bridge... whew!   

 

I fear it is!

if the A stands for A&W then yes, sure

It’s my SOTY. I know people hate the puff pastry line, but the song has Olivia’s best lyrics. “Dazzling starlet, Bardot reincarnate” loved that. It has such an interesting theme, and the vocals during the bridge were just beautiful.

 

 I’d love an album full of songs similar to it even though it would probably flop.

well yes!

I mean it was a song released last year, so in that sense it is technically eligible for such a title. It's not anywhere remotely close to deserving of it, but that's subjective

Wasn't that last year though?

I like it, i think its the only good song on GUTS alongside Making the bed (i prefer Lacy tho)

Finally someone who appreciates Lacy! It's top 5 for me. It is indeed if she didn't release vampire, bad idea right, making the bed and love is embarrassing
