“My favorite song i’ve ever recorded is Before the Goodbye, which was a bonus track on my third album. I love that song and regret that it wasn’t made into a single.” - Britney Spears in a new excerpt from her book, #TheWomanInMe

  • Britney has impeccable taste. She also fought for "Breathe On Me" to be a single but her dumbass record label was set on "Outrageous" since day 1

  • Not this sounding better than the rest of that album

Well, considering this was the original album lead prior to "I'm a Slave 4 U" it makes sense.

I never understood how a song went from "lead single" status to "bonus track", but oh well

Should've been a single instead of Boys or Rock & Roll

🤷 Considering the tone "I'm a Slave 4 U" made, I suspect it changed everything about the album, especially since all of BT's productions were excluded from the album, aside from "Before the Goodbye".

I love this song... Could've easily replaced  "What It's Like to Be Me" as the album closer. x

The horror. 😱

Not my favourite song from the album but I always loved how dramatic/euro pop it is

I Run Away kinda washes it but I love this too.

That's another banger, but BTG is far more creative sonically. Especially at the time

I remember once reading this was in contention to be the lead single from 'Britney'

Do we know what else the producer worked on for this album?

I'd ignore this song for years thinking it was some throaway **** ballad with it being a bonus track with a title like that so Imagine my surprise one day when it turned out to be a banger.

I'm glad that it wasn't the lead over I'm a Slave 4 U, but it would've been a nice album track. It would've been fine as a non-single though. I Run Away or That's Where You Take Me would've been better singles and given the same vibes as this one tbh :celestial5:

Oh ****, I remember these. 'Britney' could've been on that same creative Britney caliber that 'In The Zone' and 'Blackout' are had the kookier stuff made it.
