She has 30 million monthly listeners on Spotify, her latest album sits at 90 on Metacritic, she's #3 on Spotify US currently and has an excellent catalogue with some of the best lyrics in the whole world.   

 

So why does ATRL seem to not care about her?

Good question, she kind of fell off for me with Laurel Hell, but the new album was nice & Be The Cowboy/Puberty are masterpieces.

An indie artist's album getting 14 pages on atrl is pretty good though. Not sure what you're trying to say here. What I'm saying is that for more people to "care" about her (as per the thread title) then potential fans should be made aware that this is not some manufactured kpop industry slave. That might make them more inclined to check her out.

mitski is a good artist but most of what atrl goes for is camp. she gets her recognition on indieheads.

+ a lot of her monthly listeners are younger (14-22) and ATRLs base is mostly 25-35.  So, we don’t have a lot of TikTok fans.  

This just really isn't the place that I care to talk about her. She's amazing though, my partner and I listen to her music constantly.

My fave AURORA is in a similar position but much worse, ATRL is tasteless I fear. I've only managed to get one decently viewed thread about her but it was bc I compared her streams with Beyonce

You could say the same for the likes of Ethel Cain, Phoebe Bridgers, etc. This place isn't interested in indie/smaller acts (acts in general tbh) that blew up after like 2017, which is a shame because I feel like they're missing out on alot of great music, but whatever.

Anyway, it seems she's kinda following a Goldfrapp-esque trajectory of completely changing her sound every album which can throw a fanbase off. I am so impressed with how strong My Love Mine All Mine is doing in the US though and would love for her to end up with a massive hit 

Song lengths. She has so many great ideas but I feel like with the type of music she makes they need to be more fleshed out. The two minute format is not doing her any favors, for a “serious” emotional pop song 3:30 minimum is necessary to connect with the content.
