that's a great strategy. Many new artists wait too long to release an album after their breakout hit and end up as one hit wonders

  • Why on earth would she wait until next year??  Atrl is just as out of touch as an average 60-year old music exec it seems. Getting an album out as soon as possible is the most sensible choice by far

Album is 6 on Apple Music :clap3:

Wow its higher than Shakira

That was such a vibe, great album and I was not expecting the Becky G random collab to serve as much as it did!

Breathe Me is the highlight for me for now, so sexy and sultry, can't wait to see what she has in store for the future

Safer is iconic

I feel like it should have been called Running but i loveee the album

this is solid :clap3: i really love Safer

a nice breezy listen, it'll pop off in the summer

Solid album. Maybe a bit formulaic at times but the girl could have some staying power.

Not her saying she narrowed down from 130 tracks. I'm sure some of them were a mess but I know some gems were in there too. We'll never hear them :rip:

i think this is a really nice debut album

very cohesive but doesn't have many tracks that stand out imo

7.3M debut is definitely nothing to scoff at considering she only has one major hit so far. And 84/100 on Metacritic is great. Wondering if P4k wil review this

Even Shakira did 13M and she's quite established with a sizeable fanbase. So Tyla doing 7.3M is actually commendable. I just hope she's stable enough to stay above 5M throughout the week.

Very strong debut. I absolutely love Breathe Me, Jump, No. 1, Safer and Priorities. If she keeps making acclaimed bodies of work like this, she will be fine even if she never has a Water sized hit. My only complaint is I would've swapped one of the mid-tempos like Butterflies for popiano banger Been Thinking. Looking forward to how she and her team maps out the rest of this era.

I'm unsure why people are using the fact that amapiano is the reason why this album sounds like 14 different rehashes of the same song?

Amaarae's album is miles more diverse in terms of sound and is still amapiano/afrobeats in its core.

I'm not complaining since I know this is her debut but I wish she explored a LOT more.

The album is surprisingly good.

The beat make it feel like lounge music, but her voice have charisma. Overall a solid debut.

Because when people are using things like this for their argument, it shows they listen to very little Amapiano…:toofunny3:

I can point out at least 30 other Amapiano songs that use a similar drum pattern.  :rip:

Critiquing melody, vocal range, lyrical content, etc…all valid reasons to say it's the same.  But to talk about drum patterns + use of log drum is giving ignorance.  Mainly from people on Twitter…

Pretty sure neither song is in same key or even same tempo either.  :skull:
