Who Is Your Favourite Philosopher?

Featured Replies

I recently got into Nietzsche, thanks to a friend recommending his book "Beyond Good and Evil," and it basically transformed my life and worldview. Do any of you relate to his ideas? If not, which philosophers resonate with you?

Not a philosopher but Zen Buddhist philosophy is straight tea.

Seneca.

Although I was brought up with Socrates a lot. I love him a lot too like an immutable building.

Albert Camus. The Stranger is one of the most important books I've ever read, I found it when I needed it most.

I recently got a book on the Socratic method, and it's really interesting. Reading about it now, especially with how social media can make us intellectually numb, is eye-opening. It encourages questioning everything, even what you personally believe and what's considered common knowledge.

His theory on the mathematical sublime and aesthetics is really interesting, but I don't think I'm smart enough to read Critique of Pure Reason/Judgment :deadbanana2: both are on my future reading list though.

If you consider Dostoevsky a philosopher than I'd say him, his books changed my life :jonny:

René Descartes the legend that he is

Changes all the time, depending on the knowledge gaps I need to fill at certain points in my life and how my perspective shifts.

Aristotle’s Nichomachean Ethics book grounded my thoughts the most thoughts this past year.
