Who's had the bigger peak?

Doja, obviously. I love Ashanti, Rain On Me and Only U defined a generation but no her peak pales in comparison to Doja's. 

Doja is the closest female rap has had to a true global star. Yes, Nicki is cute and has her moments but outside of Starships and Super Bass (popgirl songs basically) she's been a nonfactor globally. Cardi too bar her features.

 

Doja Cat goes Top 10 and #1 for solo rap tracks, pop collabs, pop rap songs, and PTTR is one of the most global tracks in recent memory, dominating almost all of Europe, Oceania and the Americas. And that's a pure rap song. By a female artist.

 

Doja > Ashanti. Ashanti had an amazing run in the early 2000s but that was borderline local. Look at the chart numbers.

Doja’s peak was/is huge and we have yet to see what her longevity will look like, but i wouldn’t count Ashanti out so easily. she damn near racked up a greatest hits collection’s worth of top 10s as a lead and featured guest during 2002-04, including 2 #1s, just like Doja has. her hype was so big preceding her debut that she actually broke the record for biggest first week sales for a female debut album at the time with half a million sales. (Doja’s highest first week sales is a little over 100k). i’m not saying this makes her bigger than Doja, but i think they’re at least comparable. 

Queen Ashanti was on top like really actually on top for like 1 2 3 years. Doja was never the biggest girl.

Ashanti... Doja has barely been around and has only had like two hit songs. 

The recency bias is screaming loud in this thread. 

Ashanti's first era was huge, she was also escapable, she was also moving both singles and albums. Doja probably hasn't reached her peak yet. 

Ashanti was huge back in the early 2000s. I'd go with Ashanti on this one x

Doja & it’s not even close. We all know if Doja goes back to her pop rap sound with hair she will smash easily.

 

Hell she had a smash hit with backlash & no hair. 
 

Ashanti was cute for one era while Doja is going on three.

Based on peaks, I feel like Ashanti's peak in the US was bigger. Doja is more global though.

Globally it’s Doja, easily  PTTR alone >>> Ashanti’s career

right now Doja has more solo top 10 hits than Ashanti

 

but Ashanti was HUGE in 2002, really big here in da states i don't kno her global status at da time

 

PTTR is becoming a global classic tho much bigger globally then any song from Ashanti solo or featured

Planet Her was much more successful than any of Ashanti's era 

Globally it's clearly Doja. In the US Ashanti had a slightly bigger peak.

You’re never saying anything that makes sense 

People saying Doja has two hits when she has 6 (going 7 with PTTR) pop radio #1s and 10 rhythmic radio #1s. Obviously not discounting Ashanti's smash years but Doja is bigger. And when you consider globally...
