what are the lyrics about? give me your interpretation girls!

It’s the most misunderstood song on ME!dnights. People keep intepreting it like She’s speaking to a man about what he did to/with Her  It’s clear the entire song is a bunch of rhetorical questions / “asking for a friend” type questions. Hence why She says “… it’s just a question.”

 

She’s like, hey um just a rhetorical question but have you ever kissed someone in a crowded room? Not that that happened to me hahahaha not like when I was spotted kissing a certain model at a 1975 concert?

 

The fact that it’s about a woman is emphasized in the official lyrics, which are punctuated as:

 

”Do you wish you could still touch …her?”

 

It’s about Kissgate, December 2014. Full stop! 

Swifties have the very same question. 

Reflecting upon a past relationship on “Question…?,” Swift asks her former lover if their newer romantic experiences compare to the time that they spent together. Implicitly, she hopes that their ex is similarly unable to move on from her and that their newer attempts at love are only “second best after that meteor strike.”

The track opens with an interpolation from “Out of the Woods,” off of Swift’s 1989 album. Like “Question…?,” “Out of the Woods” is a song looking back on the memories of a now-dead relationship.

It's about kisses in crowded rooms...

 

 

 

She met an ex years after they broke up and they talk now as mature people about things they probably didn't speak when they were young now  (things like politics, social issues "gender roles" etc..)

 

but then with the chorus she interrupts that (they are drunk cause "drink after another") and she comes back when they were young and she asked him if he remembers what their relationship was .... she's the "her" in the song.  Everything she asks is something they made in the past.

As for out of the woods (with a sample in the song) she basically asks "do you remember?".

 

 

 

The chorus is about being young and a relationship being simple against the verses when the 2 characters now acts like mature people.

The metaphysical interpretations of life itself. Taylor's intellectual prowess is unmatched.

She is having a conversation with someone she used to date.  The verses are her internal asides thinking about their relationship and circumstance.  Then the chorus is her somewhat drunk blunt questions asking about their young relationship.  

It's about how everything seems silly in hindsight, like Gwen Stefani's Cool
