Is 2023 a total slay?

Featured Replies

I feel like in terms of music releases this year is amazing

:wanda:

We got Caroline Polachek's masterpiece album

Jessie Ware

Kylie invented Padamic

Roisin Murphy is releasing her best work soon

What other releases prove my point?

No. Jessie and Carolina albums suck. Padam Padam was a cute moment but that's it.

Any year Taylor Swift releases is a total slay

It's been both good and extremely stale at the same time.

it has some good releases but as a whole it kinda falls flat mainstream wise. Memorable moments so far include:

Padam Padam

Raven

Desire, I Wanna Turn Into You

SOS slayage on the charts

Amaarae album of the summer

A&W

That! Feels Good!

Kali Uchis’ amazing album (although it kinda aged)

Peggy Gou’s Eurodance BOPPAGE

Vampire’s release and GUTS coming soon

No. Jessie and Carolina albums suck. Padam Padam was a cute moment but that's it.

excatly I fell like mainstream wise this year is below avarage and absence of Ariana, Rihanna etc. is noticeable while others just can't deliver.

Meanwhile smaller artists are doing their best work in years

YES, its been the best year for a long time, could even rival best year since 1998 by the end

So many chart songs have ben added, Disco pop is still riding high, synth pop, less rap songs hogging the airwaves, a real amazing year

There's good music in every year. But in terms of popular music and pop culture in general 2023 is a shithole :cm:

Every year is a slay. I always struggle to narrow down the rankings for my top songs/albums of the year. You just need to dig deeper and spend time looking out for unfamiliar stuff.

it's kinda been terrible tbh

there are some incredible albums that have been released but as a whole it's kinda... empty/boring

That's it? Honestly this year has been very underwhelming and slow so far. Thankfully Carly is coming to save it next week!

No! That’s just a few that came to my mind. Kelela slayed, Kylie and Poppy are releasing, Dua is coming back. And YES I totally forgot about Carly!! She’s about to serve AOTY

Lol this is one of the shittiest years in music :bibliahh:

360's Return

Allday TBA album coming too, and enter All Time Top 100 Like A Verison at #48

Denis still dropping MV

My Girl Rihanna return just to do a performance and dipped

Maggie, Nessa, Madison All Releasing/Released

70% Of My Stanlist have dropped at least 1 Music video or album.

It's been a slay for me this year.  But idk wtf Tom is doing but he needs to hurry because it's almost August

No, this is one of the most underwhelming and disappointing and boring years in her music so far…..feels like music is dead.

This this this! Some of the best "pop" music is not mainstream. Caroline's album is my favorite album of all time :jonny3: Art pop at its best and richest

this. but who cares about charts when you can have GOOD music. 2023 is probably the best year in music releases in a LONG time.

nah we need SG for it to be a slay.

"calm down" being everywhere is not enough, we need her own whisperpop material like Hands to Myself, Good for You, Fetish, Bad Liar. it's missed. :bird:
