I think it's a great idea not to have eliminations, who knows how many times participants had a risky idea but didn't do it because it could backfire.

Oh wow the throwback, we haven’t done those DJ rooms in years  I fear it probably wouldn’t be as active as it was back then in the Platinum Hit days tbh but those might be fun again every now and then

 

Hopefully since the ATRL server is actually stable and working properly now we can have more everyday conversations like that going here, this’ll hopefully be the first Golden Hit season hosted without some major site issue like the others have all annoyingly endured

I still remember the 2018 shut down. Literally the whole week Chun Li went top 10, ATRL was down. When it finally came back, it dropped out of top 20 

 

Now that ATRL has ad revenue to pay for IT folks, it works so good.

Exactly! plus we’ve seen and have proof from the previous GH seasons that it really does work and pays off, we’ve had instances where players go from the bottom of rankings to getting a #1 in the very next challenge and it’s amazing and rewarding to see because if the game didn’t function in this way it wouldn’t play out the same at all and I’m so glad it is this way where anybody can play and write whatever they want

It was so bad  the most horrible moment I have had hosting was when the server change took place from old ATRL to new ATRL and the site was literally down for 3 weeks so the game was disrupted for nearly a month  plus when the site did eventually come back on the new server they only opened it up to ATRL+ members at first which meant I couldn’t even thread my own game and somebody else had to do it for me

 

prayer circle to never have to encounter these server troubles again pls

The way I could do absolutely nothing  it was bizarre logging on the new ATRL for the first time and seeing the game had been posted in for days without me even being able to get online djdndnfjd, a mess

 

I think out of the recent seasons the Holiday Special had it the worst because the site kept going down for days randomly and with no announcement  but they were all interrupted in some way. Here’s to a smooth GH4 with no troubles from the site 🙏🏼

A big thank you to everybody who has signed up so far! Jackson and I have been planning this season over the last few months and I hope that the challenges we have decided on will be inspiring and help make you write some great creative songs, and ultimately have fun over the duration of the game. The first challenge will be posted tomorrow, but before then we need to announce the judges and reveal the new mentor role introduced this season! The judges will be revealed individually throughout the day, but I’ll first be introducing the mentor…

 

📀 Mentor Role 📀

 

The aim with the introduction of this role is that players will be able to have somebody who they can privately share their writing with or ask for specific advice while the song is still a work in progress. Since the mentor is not a part of the judging panel they are able to give fully impartial feedback without looking through the lens of the more critical or nitpicky role of a judge. While it’s fine to still ask the judges for any advice or any questions that you may have - since after all they are the ones who will be reviewing your entries - if you ever want to receive something more in depth or specific feedback for your song prior to submitting it to the judges, then the mentor is always there to ask! 

 

All of this is fully optional, it’s entirely up to you if you want to seek the mentor’s help or if you feel confident enough to not ask their advice throughout the season. The mentor is primarily just there as an extra person here to support any players who feel they need a bit more support with any of their entries or just someone to talk to about the game or writing in general. The mentor will also be providing additional feedback each round on the entries after they are submitted, but again this will be through a more supportive lens as opposed to the lens of a judge. This feedback is also entirely optional, and you can choose to receive or not receive this extra feedback when using the submission form for your entries. They will only read the entries of the players who want this additional feedback, and to reiterate the mentor is not in any association with the judging panel and will not be scoring or reviewing entries, only providing extra help for the players if it is accepted. After being part of the judging panel for the first three seasons of the game I’m definitely happy to take a break from it, but I’m also still here to provide any further support if it is needed at any point throughout the game! It’s always a joy to get to see your writing but sometimes it is hard to try looking at it through a critical lens, so I’m happy to take on this mentor role and be able to provide more one-on-one supportive feedback!

📀 Judge Reveal 📀

 

With new graphics, a new host, and a new mentor role, we thought we'd continue the Golden Hit late spring renewal with a new panel. Joining me on this season's panel are two users judging a full season for the first time. Still, these judges are amazing writers and certainly no stranger to this game.
