SB Halftime Viewership Adjusted for Population Growth

Featured Replies

Assuming 1% year over year population growth, this is what viewership would look like had each act performed in 2023 (all else being equal):

Adjusted rankings:

1. Katy Perry (2015) 120.7 million -> 130.700 million

2. Madonna (2012) 114 million -> 127.186 million

3. Bruno Mars (2014) 115.3 million -> 126.100 million

4. Lady Gaga (2017) 117.5 million -> 124.729 million

5. Black Eyed Peas (2011) 110.2 million -> 124.176 million

6. Coldplay (2016) 115.5 million -> 123.832 million

7. Beyoncé (2013) 110.8 million -> 122.392 million

8. Rihanna (2023) 121.017 million -> 121.017 million

9. Justin Timberlake (2018) 106.6 million -> 112.038 million

10. Jennifer Lopez & Shakira (2020) 104 million -> 107.151 million

Note that in some years population grew by more than 1.2%, while in other years it grew by less than 0.9%. And I'm not taking demographics into account, which would make things complicated really quickly. So this is just an estimate!

Any surprises?

    Usher still wins even if you adjust for population. His ratings really are insane.

This math seems very accurate :clap3:

It’s important to consider the 0-8 year olds who have been born since Katy’s halftime, since they are her core fanbase and would have absolutely tuned in.

Like, what's next? The correlation between SB viewership and the overall number of TVs in America? :rip:

Homosexuals per household :giraffe:

2023:  According to estimates, there are 123.8 million TV homes in the United States for the 2022-2023 TV season. Whilst the number of TV households continues to grow

2021: Nielsen Estimates 121 Million TV Homes in the U.S. for the 2020-2021 SEASON

2013:  114,200,000 American households owning at least one television set as of August 2013

ETC...

This thread it's not that dumb actually. When you instint to compare things 10-15 years a part it's true population is just bigger and the country has more televisions

I think team match up is more important of a factor lol

You should now adjust for the TV watching public which has been declining.
