Miley started the year bigger than ever after releasing her biggest hit in her career, which has lasted more than various ATRL faves. "Flowers" is shapping up to be the biggest smash of the year WW, performing exceptionally well in all metrics while also showing great longevity. The hype was BIG before the album release.

 

However, a series of disappointing news have overshadowed the success received at the beginning of the year. Her album 'Endless Summer Vacation' was not received with the same excitement as her first single. While a commercial improvement over its predecessor, ESV debuted with smaller numbers than acts like TWICE, NF, and Melanie Martinez. Her second single "River" is considered a bomb when a third single is already being promoted. "River" did poorly on all metrics. Not even the radio could save her, where it is alleged that the callouts were horrendous.

 

The "Flowers" fluke allegations grow with the days, but Miley's team has decided to go for "Jaded" this time, a sonic shift from the other singles.

 

Will Miley score another hit this era or the damage done by "River" is irreparable?

I mean I guess. Most of Miley’s albums only have 1 or 2 real hits anyway so the way this album performed shouldn’t be a shock to anyone imo

flowers ruined it.  I knew it would be too big and she couldnt match that song.

Jaded is already being serviced as the new single and will likely totally wipe out River. It’ll be fine.

Jaded may do slightly better but the eras is already dead. The gag is Miley stans and bandwagoners claimed for years she was an “album artist”

River wasn't the worst but it’s far from the best choice. Rose Colored Lenses was right there 

 

But yes it’s likely too late, her moment has come and gone this era. 

Idk why they thought River was a good single choice when it’s the weakest lyrically and one of the least radio friendly

If River can't save it, nothing else in the album will. 

It has nothing to do with the single choices. River would’ve done better if Miley herself wasn’t hiding & completely disappeared.

No the music is bad , that’s what ruined the era , maybe of she releases taste of my own as a single , she would save it

Maybe not but Bangerz is one of the best pop albums of our generation.

Violet Chemistry will be the Levitating to Miley's Physical (River) & Break My Heart (Jaded) 

Although she is talented it seems to me that Miley is simply surviving based on her name recognition at this point. She has no fan base and is being carried by Radio. Once flowers slows down it will be another flop era I fear.  

I genuinely don’t mean this in a shady way… but for lack of a better way to say it — the ESV album ruined the ESV era  

 

The album was and still is quite underwhelming for me, though I am not saying she dropped a bad album, but I feel like there were not many standouts that could have been a hit. River was definitely a bad single choice, but even Jaded or something else would not have done ~that~ much better IMO. Flowers was a perfect storm situation, the album was never going to live up to that. It’ll probably have better numbers than Plastic Hearts in the long run, but yeah, I don’t know what could’ve been done to ‘save’ it when the GP just hasn’t connected with the album or any songs at all outside of Flowers.

No, her having no single-worthy songs apart from Flowers ruined it. I never understand why artists do that.

River is her Judas, Jaded will be her The Edge of Glory.

Miley herself ruined the era. I'm sick of her posting about Flowers being #1 every ******* week, you have a whole ass album out, promote something else, imagine how tired we are!!!!
