Anti

Too early for SOS to be considered a competitor

It need years of slayage to get there. Even if it’s early run has been better.

Anti. Without the Samsung deal, its debut and early runs would have been much more massive chartwise.

ANTI has like 40M certified units in the US alone. I don’t think Sza is matching that..:coffee:

That’s nice but she’s unlikely to produce another hit from this album while ANTI has 3 songs on track to Diamond.

Time will tell, anyway.

Yeah still missing the 3 diamond singles. You're kinda set up SZA and I'm not here for that

it's not a setup, I voted for SOS.

Rihanna's ANTI era certifications 5 months after album release (July 2016):

Work - 3x Platinum

Needed Me - 2x Platinum

ANTI - 2x Platinum (but this includes 1 million free copies she gave to Samsung)

Total activity: 7M certified units

the rest were accumulated over 7 whole years the album has existed as a streaming staple. and this is no shade to ANTI either, I just got my ANTI vinyl the other day. love that album down, top to bottom. SOS is off to a much stronger start and it doesn't need diamond singles to boost its total popularity when all 23 songs on the album will hit the platinum mark with ease.

What diamond singles? She doesn’t even have one. The anti singles were just certified a month and some change ago. LOTB is still far from diamond, the other 2 might get there next year or after.

SOS had a much stronger start and it’s also more stable. Even WW. Neither are really WW big.

+ Deluxe & Physicals are coming soon :swan:

Anti

SOS is having a good bb200 run because streaming is weighted much more in 2023 vs 2016.

Also Rih didn’t include 45S / BBHMM on Anti, like SZA did with IHU and Good Days, despite all those songs all being released in the same timeframe prior to their albums dropping.

SOS will be bigger, pretty sure it’s performed better globally too. Anti’s global units are actually not that impressive (I think around 10M according to Chartmasters) when you consider how her fans act like it’s her biggest album and one of the biggest albums of the 2010s. Though, of course, still great numbers, especially for an 8th studio album.

Barring new releases that could be bigger than it, SOS will end up as top 5 biggest female album of the decade (behind Midnights, Future Nostalgia, Sour, and folklore) sooner or later. And it’ll surpass 10M a lot quicker than Anti did.

Except that Work and Love on the Brain were massive worldwide hits. Also, ANTI has moved 11M units worldwide. 6M of them come from outside the USA. It’s very unlikely for SOS to match that since it’s localised.

Overall on a global scale as an album+ hits, ANTI is bigger and will remain bigger but SOS might take over in the US.

Top 5 of the decade? Its barely 2023 lmao.  And not Anti is a lot bigger worldwide. SOS wasn't even top 30 in some major markets.

Right now it's Anti but the album is like 7 years of streams so who knows. SOS had a stronger start and might overtake it in the long run, CTRL ended up being huge despite never having a hit single so if this album follows the pattern it could end up being bigger than Anti.
