Beyoncé protégé Chloe Bailey is a generational talent, but the generic songwriting and chemistry-free features on her solo debut don’t make the case.

In Pieces is a compilation of soulless singles curated to produce kiss-off captions. It spends so much time defining what Chlöe isn’t—Halle, a Bible-thumping prude, a moral absolutist—that by the end, we have no clue who the mononymous singer actually is.

Now that Halle is a Disney princess, Chlöe cosplays as a dominatrix. In Pieces meets a fate worse than controversy: banality.

a high score considering what they wrote, damn

I'm just listening to it now and it's a bit like a bad Tinashe cosplay :dancehall3:

That paired with the fact that they've taken the most boring and expected parts of rnb to pull this album together.

Really disappointed considering how BRILLIANT Ungodly Hour is.

p.s this SENT me

The score shows how scared they are to criticise anything that Beyonce name is  involved. Review reads more like 1.6, not 6.1 :toofunny3:

A 6 score after saying the album is soulless is nice I guess:rip:

6 is generous for this honestiy.  But I’ll be honest I’m mostly salty cause those droplets were so good and had so much personality

In what reads as a desperate attempt to secure a hit, Chlöe aligns herself with “bad boy” and notorious abuser Chris Brown for “How Does It Feel,” a song with the sexual appeal and emotional intimacy of Apple’s Terms and Conditions.

They need to start just giving out 3s and 4s when deserved and not just for obvious targets like Ed. They treat so many young women/POC artists with kid gloves because of identity politics. It makes actual quality albums by female/POC artists feel underrated for getting a 7 or 8 if this type of drivel can clear a 6.

This is very......republican of you.  Insinuating black artist only get high scores cause they are black is racist in itself.

This is suddenly one of the most iconic reviews ever :bibliahh:

Cardi B Mtv Vmas 2017 GIF by 2022 MTV Video Music Awards

I expected this number as her first week sales not gonna lie no shade

But ok why not..

This review is absolutely unhinged :bibliahh:

It’s like a choose-your-own-adventure with only two endings: There’s a good-for-nothing man in her life who keeps betraying her, so will she A) give it to God or B) shake some ass and show him what he’s missing?

Does he buy you nice stuff? Is the d**k good? Do you not want another woman to profit from your emotional labor?

A lot of the review is unwarranted. It’s kinda generic but it’s not all they’re making it out to be and they’re biting from twitter critics commentary about her image instead of talking about her music

Whoever wrote this article is so strange for her unwarranted commentary on Halle and her judgemental stance on Chloe.
