Um sweety, Avril was forefront for bringing the pop rock movement, not Kelly.. you cannot actually be serious

 

Complicated also out-streamed and outsold the other local song.

I like Kelly better but Complicated is better, more iconic, and more impactful ngl

subg is an amazing song but COMPLICATED is one of my most fave songs ever

Sis Kelly only did Pop/Rock because Avril brought the sound to mainstream popularity. It was no surprise that after Let Gos success that labels wanted to imitate what Avril did. Katy Perry has disclosed this that as she signed with labels they all wanted the next Let Go moment. They were so desperate for it that they even placed a Let Go B-Side on Breakaway and made it the title track. Kelly followed down Avril’s path - not the other way around. Avril’s success was also extremely global while Kelly’s success outside of Breakaway is mainly local.

They way both songs peaked at #2 yet they're more remembered and impactful than many #1's from that decade
