Miley flopping, why? (27.7mil first day Spotify)

Featured Replies

Spoiler

Despite Flowers conquering the world by storm and becoming one of the biggest hits of the decade, Miley's newest album is struggling to replicate it's success in it's early hours.

Flowers is the only song charting in the AM top 200 at #20. On the AM Pop chart Flowers is #2 + 4 album tracks chart in the top 200 (the highest album track being Jaded at #110).

Recent albums by other pop girls such as Taylor, Olivia, Ariana and even Billie had already flooded the top 50 by this point. Why couldn't ESV do the same?

Flowers being 1/3 of the streams

She’s bigger on Spotify so we’ll wait and see how she does there.

Gaga regularly flops on Apple Music, but Chromatica still had a big debut and good spotify streams

We’ll AM hasn’t updated in hours. But yeah it’s not looking good. Even the YouTube views are low on the songs.

I don’t like the album but I did think it would at least have a very strong start with Flowers smashing

Wait is that true? :soda:

Inb4 was Flowers a fluke thread :lmao:

Should we be surprised that a hit single doesn't automatically make the album smash?

Answer: NO

I don’t understand why people still assume that a smash-hit single will result in a smash-hit album.

:rip:

“We Can’t Stop” barely helped “Bangerz” and neither did “Wrecking Ball” thereafter, and “Flowers” isn’t necessarily going to help “Endless Vacation” in the long run either.

Cyrus’ albums generally do well (certainly greater than her peers ie. Selena Gomez) but I don’t think we should expect that much from her. Also, I’m pretty sure her biggest albums are still her Hannah Montana ones.

I’m sure her Spotify numbers will be good/decent tomorrow.

*flop on AM

Because she's Miley + bad album

But she's a great artist

Fake news. Real numbers come out on Sunday

Unholy smashing did not help Sam Smith

One single smashing does not always lead to an album smashing

However I do expect a big commercial splash with this album

Anyway at least it's her best album yet in my book

Barely any promo for this album, Columbia went all out for Flowers and then stepped back for some bizarre reason

It's disappointing to see, but perhaps Miley has tricks under her sleeve for later in the week

As someone who wanted so badly to love the album.. It's not it

Flowers is the best song on it.

Very disappointing underwhelming album

With a huge second single and a big rollout and promo she could've had an absolutely massive era

One of the biggest fumbles in recent years :deadbanana2:

they wanted Flowers to remain massive and hoped itd translate organically

when is the disney doc?

False narrative. We Can't Stop helped Bangerz to open at the same numbers as Katy's Prism, which was an incredible feat especially since Miley was coming off a Bionic level flop and We Can't Stop was nowhere near as big as Roar.

Bangerz was a success and that opening week number was a major comeback after CBT. End of story

Yeah it's weird, maybe it's a glitch since it's charting in other contries?

But I don't know what her label is doing, where's the promo? It's release week and they don't have anything planned other than the Disney gig :rip:

I disagree bc what if the second single is terrible like River lowkey that would've killed hype even more

This would've worked if the second single was Rose Colored Lenses, Violet Chemistry, Jaded or Muddy Feet

But I do think the second single should've came out AT LEAST a few days before the album, if not preferably a week before

I get why they wanted Flowers to shine but they needed to start the transition a week before album release
