His first 3 albums have 2 diamond singles each and are all on their way to becoming diamond certified themselves. Sunflowers is the highest certified song in RIAA history (17x plat). He went from even his flop singles getting 1bil streams to struggling to cross 500mil with any single within the span of one album. Even though he had high profile features (Dina & The Weeknd) and a TTH residency and radio payola...

 

Can you name a bigger fall from grace?

He's declined pretty hard, but "biggest downfall ever"? Let's slow down the dramatics.

going from a debut album that sold 15M WW and 16 weeks at #1 years on the BB 200 to a sophomore album that didn’t even chart at all…matter of fact, none of his albums after ever charted

I Like You is a pretty big hit. The decline is still big but imo the song's success saves the era from being one of the biggest declines of all times 

His Doja and The Weeknd collabs were mid hits so no.

Definitely the biggest decline of a male superstar in recent years.

 

There isn't much speculation about it, either. Everyone just... forgot he existed 

He just... fell off the face of the earth. All of a sudden, people just stopped wanting music from him 

 

There wasn't really a radical shift in sound, he didn't commit some massive social faux pas and get cancelled, he just... fell off. 

 

Biggest ever, no. But certainly the biggest in a long while

OT: Not the biggest downfall ever but a huge drop... and I Like You was a hit after all. I think he'll be fine like any other male artist, he just needs the right song again

Not sure why y’all saying the male Katy when Katy already showed signs of underperformance in Prism going to Witness. Post went from a huge era with 2 huge songs to barely score 1 hit and the album fizzled out quick fast.

Declines are normal. Not sure why atr expects consecutive  smashes he’ll he did 3 in a row which is difficult to get literally
