Lowkey yes and I also recently thought about this. He was truly arguably the biggest artist for several years and is now a complete non factor and I have 0 clue why

Especially the Nelly example listed - that’s a normal decline for any artist. Post’s however, given how massive his last era was, is not.

Nelly debuted in 2000. Eminem or Kanye west started in the same years, some more or less, and they are still getting Platinum or multiplatinum with every album. Nelly really went from two big eras to failing a top 10 debut 10 years After. A lot of 90s artists can still get #1 After decades. At least before streaming era Age. It's not a normal decline.

 

And post Malone has now 7 years of career too, with several big eras, not only One too.

No, but some people here are overestimating his 2022 singles. They were both radio-fueled hits that couldn't even reach 500M streams on Spotify, despite the high-profile features.
