This is partly a fan issue, too. Editors are very skilled at removing any facial blemishes, altering darker skin tones, slimming proportions, etc. They want them to look like AI. I very distinctly remember following Exo as a kid and encountering the same phenomenon. Now it's been exacerbated by surgery and fillers.

 

the way we went from a BG being the largest 3rd gen digital monster to entire BG discographies being outstreamed by single songs from mid-tier GGs in 4th gen is so
