I knew she wouldn’t cb this year bc she was focusing on her acting career and she was filming her drama with Park Bo Gum. Plus she usually take long break between her albums! But we need her now, she needs to revive the charts

They didn't lie, Newjeans' performance was uploaded 3-4h later. Aespa's performance had more views initially and now it looks like Newjeans' performance is gaining views at a faster pace. Ive's performance is also about to cross 1M views, it's not like one video is a lot more popular than another  I watched all performances and I'm sure many did too.

Honestly it doesn’t matter, UI is the biggest kpop act in korea ever so can’t be compared tbh. Taeyeon is the biggest female soloist obvs

Tbf IU had years to build her empire as a soloist whilst Taeyeon had to share spotlight and maintain balance  with other 8/7 other girls. It took her 8 years to finally be the Beyoncé that she is

Yeah I don’t think Taeyeon is ever touching the number of hits IU has. But Tae is growing every year more globally. And her popularity in Korea hasn’t waned at all.

That's absolutely fine. Both women can coexists 

 

When you think about it. None of their contemporaries sans Suzy can even compare to Soshi individually so IU is the easiest pick.

August 21st 2023, Taeyeon’s 5th Tour “The ODD Love” surpass IU’s 2019 record and became the most attended Concert for a Korean female soloist. With only 12 Shows she broke a touring record of Kpop trying to purchase  tickets at the 120,000 Super Dome in Taiwan selling out in 3 Minutes.  
mind you this was literally just this summer. And now she has a Top 2 hit today.

She surpassed IU tour record from 2019.
 

Others than that I don’t see how she’s slowly gaining on her? It’s actuality the opposite imo, when in 2021, Lilac sold more physicals albums.

Yeah that was my point. She is Slowly gaining on her. If you surpass someone in an area. That’s kinda the definition 

IU is not even Taeyeon's peer so this comparison between them don't make sense. One has been a soloist since Day 1 whilst the other is in a group for years 

Has anybody noticed that the nearly decade old IU vs Taeyeon discourse is always perpetuated by noise music boy group fans or SNSD rival GG stans and never uaena most the time? I've never met a normal person that partakes in this faux rivalry.
