I don't know if this is a sign of things to come, but NCT looked SO AWKWARD losing to TXT on MCountdown today

Also in all fairness, wouldn't this be seen as 'reducing competition' or something like that? In the UK at least, multiple companies have had mergers rejected due to that

Yeah it would reduce things to essentially a duopoly between Kakao vs. HYBE, but Korean merger laws don't seem that strict compared to the EU/UK or the U.S antitrust laws. I think they only recently overhauled the laws, so let's see if this takeover raises any eyebrows, if it happens.

I mean...in the past they've already allowed Kakao to own so many companies for example.

Korea looks the other way on monopolies when it allows the company to compete better globally as they are an export economy.  Kpop has been an export sector for a few decades now.

I don't even know what's happening anymore. I'll tune in to the Netflix doc/HBO miniseries in 10 years though

I'm so invested, seems LSM turned out to be the Black Mamba after all :eatpopcorn:

RV the only K-Pop group to be invited to Primavera 2023

Hopefully they'll have a new album out in time for this festival :clap3:

Seungkwan and DK of course :giraffe:

Omg it’s done

aespa I’m praying for you that this will make everything better

HYBE is good for ruining K-Pop though, so this info is not shocking to me.

Wonder where HYPE got all the money from? Like 40% of stakes at SM is a lot and no matter how much coins BTS made won't justify it

I mean...they bought over 75% of LSM's controlling shares which is worth nearly $400M, plus they are planning to purchase another 25% shares, so they'll be dropping close to $1B on this...

I feel like Kakao and SM directors are gonna sue HYBE and LSM right back though.

Now give aespa them HYPE payola + Scooter's promotion in the US

Looks like Kakao vs Hybe is the thing now :deadbanana2:

This may sounds delulu and fanfiction, but I think all the mess on IVE, LSFM, and NJ that kinda made sense now. Like Kakao are likely behind on Garam scandal, MHJ pedo scandal, Danielle Chinese/Lunar NY debacle and Hybe likely behind on IVE lipsync scandal, and Wonyoung ethnicity/nationality (it was kinda big issue in China)

@Ryan I guess we need a title change... K-POP EMERGENCY: HYBE snatches SM Entertainment :gaycat6:
