Its not like now where a stray kid can leave and their group hits big And a five year hiatus is not SM believing in your group. Red Velvet did worse than expected and SNSD crumbled, which is why Twice is even relevant as a group nowadays. They were the 2nd SNSD, A YEAR AFTER JESSICAS DEPARTURE. If SNSD was truly a national GG from 2015-now, there wouldn't be A SECOND SNSD Korean SONES literally think all of them are catty besides Yoona and Seolhyun, and read above, new kpop fan @Sheep has been in the SONE trenches for over a decade... it seems like youre the one that needs to be caught up to speed. Half of SNSD isn't signed to SM and the one comeback they put out since HN did well on Korean digital charts + had two successful fanmeet concerts. Lion Heart sold well and performed well and they went on to do several concerts and have comebacks after that release. Taeyeon alone has singles as big as SNSD hits, let alone the rest of the members who have succeeded in other fields. The random energy for you to come in here and start preaching to a group of sheep about SM artists when you aren't active here and calling them new fans is sending a bit. 1

Did I not introduce them to you(and kpop as a whole) as my lifelong obsession? Why is SM entertainment not the powerhouse company that it was in 2010 Because Red Velvet gave the GG crown to Twice and BP, Jessica left SNSD, Kris/Tao/Luhan left EXO, and all SM could do is Beatburger level tracks 6 years ago was 2017, new kpop fan. SNSD was on hiatus by then. If you weren't there before BTSs debut, don't speak on old kpop. Old kpop = SM entertainment & YG were the biggest powerhouse, no HYBE, JYP decline Just because you stan SNSD post Jessica leaving doesn't mean you were actually there, and you have no idea what you are talking about 1

The point was even 7 years ago I had already been a lifelong fan. I used to go by a different name on forums and im 100% sure that certain other hag fans like @Gorjesspazze9 and @Swirl900 would recognize me from back in the day but it was my real name so let me not. Who was the most popular member then and what were they known for? Should be easy to answer. Also SM entertainment robs their loyal fanbases (EXO-Ls, SONES, ELFs) for aespa comebacks and duh SNSD could fill out a stadium (because SNSD is literally the childhood and adulthoods of most Korean people). Yall keep comparing them to groups with literally dead members (KARA), but thats not what I'm talking about SNSD was never more successful without Jessica and every old kpop fan knows this

They weren't signed to international distribution deals l;ike BP/Twice and have been actively stifled throughout their career. Also lets not pretend that JYP didn't have success before Twice because that's VERY stupid to say. Wonder Girls paved the way for that company stylistically and artistically and their acts still continually follow the sound and trends that group helped to pioneer. SM has a much higher annual revenue NOW than they did at their "peak" as a powerhouse in 2010. Their songs are charting on WORLDWIDE charts, their acts are touring WORLDWIDE, theyre acts are selling more albums than they ever have. Same goes for every Kpop company rn. The industry is growing rapidly in consumption habits. 3 minutes ago, applestar said: Receipts for 2010 stanning because I don't see it. Idk! Considering you are never active here idk how you have the moral authority over people and their consumption habits with stanning. It's giving superiority complex.

Spears_Stan Posted October 15, 2023 Posted October 15, 2023 I'm not feeling much IVE new album, around their fourth comeback the 3rd gen gave us songs like signal, decalcomanie, rookie and kill this love, all in their own lane. The 4th gen needs to step it up, some are giving a collection of songs that can be sung by any other group with tiktok choreos and no identity

International distribution deals?? In second gen?? Pre-BTS? The only "international" deal was to JAPAN and CHINA. This is literally why Twice has Japanese members and EXO had Chinese members, despite Korea's horrible history with those countries. Wonder Girls literally flopped after Nobody, this is well known. this is why JYP was always scared of expanding West, because Wonder Girls literally gave SNSD and T-ARA and opening by doing that. SNSD has a higher annual revenue now because there are just more kpop fans who entered thanks to BTS and BP (YOU). Yes, they are worldwide, because Hallyu is worldwide (and not just PSY) anymore STOP THE LARPING!!! Its embarrassing!!

Pluto6 Posted October 15, 2023 Posted October 15, 2023 I'm proud to say that BLACKPINK played a pivotal role in my introduction to K-pop in 2020, and without them, I may not have discovered my other favorite K-pop groups. I sometimes humorously remark that new K-pop enthusiasts like myself need to shake things up a bit, as discussions among long-time fans are beginning to resemble the debates seen among Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera fans back in 2003 4
