It is obviously true that she is Aespa's Jisoo. But let's not overstate matters. There are countless girl group members who offer literally nothing except for mediocre dancing. No vocals, no stage presence, no it girl factor, no rap. Nothing. And yet y'all don't say a god damn thing.

 

Giselle is bad dancer, especially for 4th gen.  But she sings well and her rap is recognisable and cute. She speaks three languages fluently. She isn't offering Aespa nothing.

 

To me it speaks to the overration of dancing in K-pop. You can apparently get away with anything as long as you can dance decently. I disagree. I think the bar should be singing  Nothing worse than an idol that delivers mediocre studio vocals without making up for it with exceptional onstage talent.

 

Let's talk about Lesserafim Eunchae. Half of Loona. Multiple NewJennies members (take your pick). G-idle Shuhua. The list could go on and on.

You’re raising this bar sky-high like any of these other idols are.  For certain no member of aespa is a Beyoncé in dance or onstage, or even close, I assure you.

Ooh the essays in here, let me add another one. I genuinely think y’all hate Giselle because closer to a regular person but was able to fulfill her dream and become an idol. I bet most of y’all wouldn’t have this much energy for her if she was a size zero and as robotic looking as the other members. She was only a trainee for 11 months so SM didn’t have time to do the full renovation like with the others.

 

Who’s spot did she take? As far as I recall SM was still looking for a fourth member until she joined. There was a mass exodus of trainees both male and female because SM was taking too long to debut new groups. Even NN left and went back to China and was called by SM and had to be convinced to come back. Which is funny if you take into account how they treat her now. The group was finally completed when Giselle joined.

 

Giselle is the main rapper, the best female rapper SM has ever had at that. She’s a better rapper than Karina, like be foreal. She specifically auditioned to be a rapper and passed the Saturday exam, only the second female to pass that exam. So who’s the rapper that got her spot taken by her? The position was hers as soon as she joined.

Yall talking about dancing when literally all the members are mid. They all got eaten up at their own challenge. Imagine fighting about who’s less stiff. Take Giselle out of the equation and Aespa still wouldn’t be a group of performers. The other member trained for 3+ years and she’s still able to keep up. Clearly dancing was not the priority. 
 

Anyways TLDR Giselle earned her spot. She’s still the best SM female rapper, a better vocalist then most 4th gen idols and is only lacking in the investment SM puts in her. Y’all are bitter and will remain so.

And y’all talking about popularity acting like Karina and NN weren’t known and being showcased way before their debut. Giselle for example was the only member who didn’t already have a China bar predebut. The other members were given opportunities both predebut and after while we’re still waiting for a Giselle solo schedule.
