“psychofreak” by Camila and WILLOW made it to #75 and #73 in the US and UK respectively. I personally liked the song and it was my favorite off Familia but it seemed the GP said no, why?

 

For comparison “Woohoo” by Christina Aguilera featuring Nicki Minaj made it to #79 without a music video.

Camila never promoted the song… A shame because more people need to know about it.

it deserved alot more as did Hasta Los Dientes.

Bam Bam was still the main focus/single so no promo was given to it

 

its really not that complex to understand

plus it wasn't given a radio adds date

Well it wasn't really a focus single. You can see the difference between songs like Don't Go Yet & Bam Bam vs. Psychofreak & Hasta Los Dientes.

 

So the fact it debuted on the Hot 100 is pretty impressive. Considering Cry For Me, Real Friends & Easy were all bubbling unders (promo singles from previous albums).

 

Bam Bam was peaking worldwide in April - June. The time Psychofreak & Hasta Los Dientes were given music videos. They weren't going to ditch Bam Bam for songs that were showing less interest (that was until Camila told Epic she was leaving them & they then pulled it from radio).

SNL was the biggest promo it had & it got a Hot 100 chart position with that. Bear in mind, both Easy & Cry For Me missed the Hot 100 with SNL performances. So it's an upgrade.

 

If they wanted to push it further then they would've given it a radio add date. But they didn't because Bam Bam was rising & didn't peak on pop radio until June.

 

Essentially, there was just no point in trying with Psychofreak when Bam Bam was showing far more potential & became her biggest hit in 3 years since Senorita/South of the Border.

They shipped it on TTH but it got shipped back

 

It's a cringe song and it doesn't have that signature Camila latin-pop sound that the GP only likes to consume from her

You can’t use those words in 2022. 

Was it sent to radio? At the end of the day a song needs radio to chart since that’s still a large majority of the chart points. Big promo spots will give it a boost for a bit but radio sustains the song

The GP aint care about the song regardless outside the album release week

 

It's at 300k US units & Getting less than 600k streams a week
