payola is illegal and record labels still use it to boost their artists' sales

record labels also buy grammys

The OP is mad because Iggy and Nicki don't have one.

The Grammys matter and at the end of the day, unless your favorite pulls a Drake, The Weeknd or Frank Ocean and don't submit, they matter to them too.

Artists still submit their work and the fans are perched for them every year and have meltdowns when their faves lose. They matter for them

Exactly. If they don't matter then tell your faves to not submit their work anymore like Drake, Abel and Frank did instead of having meltdowns because they placed Super Freaky Girl on Pop :skull:

Iggy won best hip hop album over Drake and Eminem at the american music awards (more viewed and acclaimed than the grammys) yet you dont see me gloating

Girl we know

even the GP doesn't care

only stans care about awards as a whole

:lmao:

Those fan voted awards mean nothing. Bieber has 18 American Music Awards :deadbanana2:

It seems like submissions matter a lot, but nominations and awards don't.

it only matters as much as people care

their ratings have been nosediving for years because... no one cares

It’s not about the rating the awards still provide an amount of clout to musicians and  when they win suddenly their profile goes up and they can make more money. It’s about status.  As long as people are making money off of Taylor Beyoncé and Adele those awards will matter becuase thier is money to be made

Having a BET is more of an accomplishment than a Grammy. Record labels buy Grammys. People can clown Nicki for not having a Grammy or a nom but at the end of the day that doesn't mean ish

Nicki hasn’t won a BET Award since 2016 :ahh:

Edited by King_Lonnie

They don't matter but not because of viewership (which is a strong point)

but because they are suppoused to celebrate quality and they fail to do it year after year

The BET awards’ views are nowhere near the Grammy views even with the decline. And the Grammys have historically always been the biggest award show and considered the most important.

I’m not watching that. But if you’re referring to radio deals, that isn’t anything new, and it sure isn’t illegal.

Right?! :skull: It’s always the people whose faves have little to no Grammys that are bitter about it :dies:

Right? :toofunny2:

Even with zero ratings the Grammys will still matter because it’s an industry award :michael:

same for Oscars and Emmys

Whatever you may think about the Grammys, it is still the pinnacle of awards for an artist. That's why they submit their work to them every year. It'll only lose its value if every artist refuse to submit their work.

The Grammy’s is the biggest night in music, it’ll always matter. I notice the only people saying they don’t matter happen to stan for artists with 0 Grammys…

On the contrary, the Grammys are my favorite award show that recognizes quality music that is listed A-L on the ballot, plus a nomination for the year's token superstar in the latter half of the ballot who is popular enough to overcome the disadvantage of being listed on page 276930 to earn a nomination.

They matter more than Nicki Minaj, who releases a new song every other day and is still irrelevant outside Stan Twitter.

Vyfhcy this always SENDS me because this one claims to be a stan from Iggy's mixtape days and yet he... just acts oblivious to the way the barbz constantly LASHED and straight up harassed Iggy lmfao, w/ Nicki once again enabling it.

Like the girl was talking about driving a car off a cliff or something and the Azealia stans and barbz were like do it

Anyway.

Can be lowkey true but it depends on context and what your fave's standing is in the industry.
