More Frontloaded: BTW or 30?

Featured Replies

Exactly 10 years apart, 2011/2012 vs 2021/2022

Both are the third projects after massive break-out success for each artist.

Both debuted with high sales and a strong lead single, with success tapering off as time went on.

Both had a fair amount of controversy surrounding their releases.

It’s difficult to tell since 30 has not run its complete course, but since it’s been a year, which is more frontloaded so far?

30 - Opening: 840k; total 2.6M

BTW - Opening: 1.1M; total 4M+

30 will level off around ~3M in the next 10 years unless some actual promotion is done.

BTW spent 6 weeks in the top 10 - 30 spent 6 weeks at #1 (14 weeks in the top 10)

BTW, didn't it lasted like 6-7 weeks in the top 10? While 30 stayed there for 16 weeks with 6 of those being at #1.

Born This Way's front loadedness was inflated by those 440k 99 cent sales from amazon. It was still a pretty huge album in the longrun, multiple singles after release went multiplatinum in the US and the tour did great.

Idk about 30 it's not done and it's hard to judge in a different sales climate but the era feels over even though she just released a single. This is Adele though so maybe she still has legs idk.

And later on? BTW had a better longevity thanks to TEOG and You and I being hits, overall the era was much bigger, you have to be an OGH to think otherwise :dies:

Maybe 30? Adele barely promoted 30 while Gaga was everywhere trying to make BTW stick so.

The one for 99c

completely remove the 99c copies and the album is still a hit album so stay pressed

Forgotten mediocre album maybe but still frontloaded

BTW kinda won in the end. Its streams are pretty healthy now and not being carried by a single track. In ten years all of 30 will be completely forgotten outside of EOM, lets be real

Era wise 30 since she's barely pushing follow up singles. Album wise btw

The thing is that BTW seems frontloaded cause of that 1M fake debut, if it had a "real" debut its performance is kinda consistent

Meanwhile 30 had a real massive debut but then (after christmas) vanished

They're asking which album was more frontloaded and that is BTW. It charted for 56 weeks, 30 is still charting on its 49th week and with Vegas coming it will pass that number with way less hits...

TEOG was rush-released as a promo single after debuting at #3 and showing great potential. None of 30's tracks other than the 2nd single debuted inside the top 10 or showed any kind of potential later on, so they didn't release a follow up single for a reason.

BTW ~4.3m US units
30 ~2.6m US units

Digital era longevity =/= streaming era longevity. In the streaming age, it's quite easier to stay on the Billboard 200 since all you have to do is........stream some songs from a particular album, sometimes even ONE song being a big hit is enough to keep the album afloat, while during the digital age you had to buy an album.

Considering there's no Born This Way copies being thrown at sea due to overshipping, I have to say 30.

Also, Born This Way is kind of an LGBT classic, Adele doesn't really have anything going on for her other than sales.

Wrdgaf Bible This Way bigger and better + has an iconic legacy + multiple viral tracks (GH, Judas) in 2022 OBTWHs LOST TALENT WON
