Kimbra - 'A Reckoning'

Pretty bad album IMO, it sounds very forced and contrived. Replay is the only good song.

Revisiting this today once again and WHEW what a record   growing up on me even more after a few months of listening   I'm actually so proud of her - going fully independent is the best deci

I think it'll grow on me after seeing it live but for now I'd say Vows > Primal Heart > The Golden Echo > A Reckoning. Though she started the tour last week and I always forget how short her setlists are which isn't that big of a deal, but she also tends to mainly play the new stuff and only throws in a couple previous tracks (usually the same ones) which is a tad frustrating.

I like about half the album on first album, but the songs I don't like are really grating which drags down the project as a whole. Wish she wasn't such a perfectionist, taking so long between her albums makes it harder when one doesn't connect.

Terrible single choices had me nervous for this but on first listen I actually love it. Definitely more upbeat than I was anticipating which I was hoping for! I loved the pop sensibility of Primal Heart so it was very welcomed. It’s not really anything too new or interesting for her but I think this works well for her and this should tide me over until the next record and hope she maybe comes up with something more interesting next time. Definitely gonna snag the vinyl while it’s available because her stuff is impossible to find.

incredible album… I mean it’s her least instant album but production is top notch and also she sounds so powerful and better than ever so it’s definitely a GROWER:WAP:

Gun, Personal Space, The Way We Were and new habit, replay, la type and save me are incredible :clap3:

huge step down from Primal Heart to me :deadbanana: it has some good songs but the lows are pretty horrible

I Dont Wanna Fight is so beautiful :gaycat6:

Still not sure what my trinity is...

Maybe LA Type / Foolish Thinking / IDWtF

GLT and LA Type are EXHAUSTING even for her standards

I like the rest

SOTY/ROTY worthy

i do like this album a lot but my best friend's bday is the 18th so she wants to spend that day together and she's not into seeing two concerts in a row (we're seeing Weyes Blood the night before) so...

I'm actually so proud of her - going fully independent is the best decision for her creativity soul. It's her return to form and sound modification at the same time, like, literally she found her musical DNA and is evolving it. Can't wait for the new songs, which are already known for the fanbase after some live performances but i haven't heard it yet
