It was an Emperor's New Clothes situation. Pop in mid 2014 was kind of dire, allowing mediocrities like Iggy and Meghan Trainor to sneak in. It was hype over substance, for some reason "Fancy" connected and took off, "Black Widow" had one of those prepackaged choruses that radio loves so it also did well....but by the end of the year it was clear she was not very talented and the awkward tension of her putting on a minstrel act came to head, and when she released a bad single ("Beg for It"), she just flopped hard and never recovered, tour cancelled, etc.

 she was an easy target for early woke twitter/tumblr

terrible personality, racist past exposed, being made fun of by azealia, white chicks comparisons on top of little talent

She was truly one of the first woke twitter's targets and possibly the only successful cancellation.

A shame cause she had bops

she just wasn't built to last, which is a shame since The End of An Era is her best project to date - she kinda just kept upgrading after TNC

The funny thing is: all of that could have been prevented before anybody even heard a beep from Iggy. Her then mentor T.I., a black man and rapper himself, is also to blame for how her career went down. He must have seen the controversy coming from a mile away and simply tell her: "look girl, this is not gonna work for too long and this is not the hill to die on", If you know what I mean and I think you do.
