Because Streaming was different in 2016 and peoples opinions can change? Just be glad Streaming took off because Rihanna got her biggest Era thanks to it.

Instead of being angry at Taylor they should be buying the Avon Ladies lingerie line since that's the only thing she's good at because music clearly was never her calling. 

I see the streaming numbers 12 days away from the album release are already scaring some people.

Hypocrisy's not the right word for it but yeah her steaming success makes her huge capitalist rage at streaming back then even funnier. She turned her nose up at the idea someone could have access to your whole discography for $9.99 a month and tried to deny that streaming was the future despite such being inevitable due to the equity of streaming. If you're gonna make music a consumable product to be bought, more people having access for cheaper is inherently more equitable.

 

Especially when:

1) Her dedicated fanbase opens up a new revenue source with lifetime streaming royalties she wouldn't before get anyways.

2) Framing it as a moral stance was clearly dishonest; it was a personal economic one and her hand was forced. Going "I'm not doing this for me but the little guy!" would always look silly in hindsight with now both you and the little guy on streaming yet receiving vastly different pay-out's.

 

Thank god she got with the times and moved out of her own way.
