Thoughts on Lorry Hill?

Featured Replies

Hi everyone.

Lately I've been watching videos by this YouTuber named Lorry Hill, who focuses on analysis of celebrity plastic surgeries and cosmetic procedures. I love her content, I think she's very respectful and very informative, and she helped me understand a lot of my misconceptions about our current beauty standards. However it appears to me that in circles more informed about this topic she is a bit of a controversial figure.

Lorry has covered several famous celebrities, including pop girls like Ariana Grande, Selena Gomez, Madonna, Miley Cyrus etc. Earlier this year she found herself in hot water when famous rapper and singer Doja Cat attacked her for Lorry's video on Doja. Lorry immediately took it down, but she received both support and criticism for her video. What are your thoughts on her and the plastic surgery analysis channels in general? Do you agree with their mindset and watch these channels too?

(Also, if the mods think this isn't the right section for it can they move this to somewhere they think it's more appropriate for?)

her videos are so informative and its clear she knows a lot about plastic surgery. To me, I think she's a lovely YouTuber tbh. She informs her subscribers with class and elegance on what cosmetic procedures famous people have done and always makes the disclaimer that her intend is not to bash anybody. if stans get mad that she points out LISA from Blackpink and all the BTS members had INSANE plastic surgery done (which you can literally look up their older photos, its clear as day) ur just insecure. we all know they have done stuff to their faces

Yeah absolutely not, she much rather shows that the beauty that many celebs are portraying rn aren't achievable for everyone naturally.

I think she's brilliant and she sees things no one else does. Also, her voice is soothing and pleasing to listen to.

She doesn't say that. If anything she begins her videos complimenting the natural beauty of whoever she'll be talking about.

she's amazing

this is just pure BS

I think it's a very delicate topic, celebrities (especially women) are put under a lot of pressure since young age, considering they're under the spotlight 24/7 it's easy to fall for all the criticism and the insecurities that come with it. That's why I would never judge anybody who gets plastic surgery, I think body dysmorphia and body issues are way more common than we think, and we will never get to know because it's too personal of a topic and I don't see anybody willing to speak up about it. Talking about insecurities etc? Sure, but I don't see many people coming out and saying I got plastic surgery because of that, like Bella Hadid did, for example, simply because it takes them accepting to be seen as vulnerable about a topic that's highly sensitive such as physical appearance.

As a woman I don't really feel the constant need to be reminded that these women' beauty is not natural, I really don't and I don't think we should feel the need to compare ourselves to them, we know that they're under make up and hair sessions for hours to look like that, I don't need an "expert" to tell me that X got 29 procedures to feel better about myself. We should learn to respect our beauty and our flaws without all of this. And also, as much as these videos aren't made with a malicious intent, they always bring a lot of negative criticism towards said celebrities, because there will always be insecure, bitter people that would rather bash these celebrities for the procedures than learning the nice lesson of not being too harsh on themselves, and the cycle continues.

She's usually right. I think transparency is a good thing. So many celebs are gaslighting us saying they just lost weight, went through puberty or whatever when it's clear as day they got work done.

Girl how did you come across this post this many months later :deadbanana2:

But I do agree with you a lot.

I love her videos. Always super informative. I need her to make her Bey and Taylor videos public because we need the tea but not willing to subscribe to her Patreon :bird:

I really appreciate Lorry especially as a woman growing in the 2000's when extremely skinny body type and pro ana was trending. She just makes some girls mad because she's honest :michael: I'd rather have that one crackhead edgelord singer expose that having thousands of teens and young women have body issues because of unrealistic beauty standard she promotes
