Was having this discussion with a friend recently.

 

No doubt Miss Billie had a huge debut era, and has garnered a lot of awards - controversies notwithstanding. 

 

But if you had to pinpoint one aspect of her craft she excels at, what would it be? Some girls do one thing very well (Taylor and Lana succeed at songwriting, Xtina has/had great vocal talent, JLo is a very good performer/dancer etc.) and there are other people who are generally all rounders.

Songwriting.

Her talent in music is hard to prove, cause we probably will never know how much does she participate in writing/producing her music. But she is undoubtedly an fashion genius, those unique, edge, unworldly styles she has served

We know she was pretty skilled at dancing before her injury, she has a voice and tone many people appreciate, her vocals are good as well. From behind the scenes videos of them creating songs and her notes we know she is a good songwriter

She also has an eye for visuals and comes up with concepts that show up in those same visuals. I think she is an okay music video director though she could clearly improve a bit more in that field as a lot of her self directed videos were a bit empty, she clearly works best when she co directs.

It's not that hard if you have listened to Finneas solo songs.

Not sure about her production credits but she definitely excels at self-presentation and curation of her artistry

She is a great singer-songwriter, y'all really should try "whispering" before dragging the style. Her looks are not always a favorite for me (specially those oversized ones), but she definitely had a notable impact in fashion. Producing is probably her "weakness" since most of it is done by Finneas, but she mentioned making the outro of Bad Guy on her own, so she definitely has potential.

her… branding i guess? i feel like people like her/her image more than they like her actual music and that’s why her most recent album flopped hard, because she changed her image.

I think her writing, while clunky and lackluster at times, is really good. I also appreciate her vocals for what they are

tbh this. I'd even say that Billie is the pretty face while Finneas is the mastermind. I'm sorry but he has more credits than her on HER OWN discography  like what's not clicking??? Billie is a celebrity first and foremost, hence her kardashianification of her communication strategy. 

I read somewhere her singing pitch is perfect idk what that means but I'd say songwriting

She’s a super talented vocalist and very energetic and passionate performer though, and her sense of aesthetic and fashion has also worked really for her career. Finneas is definitely the main writer and producer though. They’re the perfect duo, really.
