Is this Reddit thread about Gaga the truth?

I understand that she is choosing to follow the acting careers of Barbara Streisand, Cher etc. It also seems like she wants to focus on film and potentially secure an Egot.

However, she did nothing to set the ground work for this early in her career. She didn’t have the old world Hollywood vibe of Adele or the crossover appeal to older audiences. She got famous on the backs of young fans. She appealed very directly and explicitly to a certain demographic of fans.

Now it feels like she is pandering to the elites/institutions she was rallying against. She presented herself as something of an outsider /rebel and people like myself identified with those narratives. In this sense to see her so desperate to align with institutions (Oscar’s/Grammys other Egot parts) for validation is just a little confusing.

They are basically saying Gaga wants to be an old school diva Hollywood entertainer now instead of the edgy artist she was in her debut. Is this the truth?

She is also in her thirties now. To me she is pretty genuine tbh, more mellow than she was during her early days as a popstar for sure, but still over the top as an actress during awards season etc.

She dropped the edgy / campy shitck like a decade ago. it's not new.

Yes. Though I still feel like there’s a way for her to marry the two - it would be so cool if she did an 80s inspired glam-rock album. This type of music is still accessible, but also respectable - just look at what Plastic Hearts did for Miley Cyrus’ public image. If Gaga did something like that, but maybe more dramatic, I think she would be able to make everyone happy and stay true to both of these artistic identities she’s trying to curate. But as of right now, her brand is confusing.

She's all about the bling not the music these days. For good reason of course, it is all to secure a high ranking position in the up and coming fundamentalist theonomy ruling over the US

She have had good two years run with music

and then downfall happen so she had to change profession and music became not as important as acting even as an average actress and roles that none else wanted

but somehow she needs to pay her bills like all of us

People can be singer, performer and an actor at the same time.. how hard is that a concept to grasp?

Fagooots who stan quick lil streaming artists commenting on a legend who is about to embark on stadium tour while simultaneously securing a main role in one of the biggest films in the coming years will always be a ki :rip: like the lanes are in opposite directions :rip:

she messed everything up she worked so hard for during the fame and born this way with releasing artpop. i feel like she still doesnt feel motivated as a musician after the immense negative response of that album. i hope one day she will have an in depth conversation about how it affected her.

“Angelina Jolie, Anne Hathaway, Marion Cotillard, Penélope Cruz, Margot Robbie, and Natalie Portman were considered for the role of Patrizia Reggiani.”

Keep telling LIES and see what happens!!!

Actors do have longer career than pop stars do tho, it’s better to whole ass one thing than half ass two things like jlo.

She’s going to age out of the pop star life very soon unfortunately, if she hasn’t already. Mega pop stardom is a young person’s game. Her legend status has been solidified already thankfully so she’ll always have the catalog to fall back on. But at a certain point it’s hard to still be seen as trendy or ahead of the game because the creative world moves at a fast pace and there is always a new generation coming with new ideas.

I really feel if Born This Way and ARTPOP didn't get bad reactions from the GP she'd still be wearing like it's the Fame Monster era

Gaga was the first artist I ever stanned and I still have a lot of love for her. My love for Dua has nothing to do with having an open discussion about where Gaga's career is headed. There is no need to be so heated all the time :deadbanana4:

No amount of mental gymnastics will ever make her seem unsuccessful to the GP :rip: Like y'all prayed for her downfall and she just got more successful, like I get it I would be mad too :rip:

Tbh I would feel so betrayed if my fav abandoned their music career like this and focus mostly on films because it gets her more praise.

She’s a people’s pleaser and a theater kid I guess. They crave to be liked by everyone and would change their personalities depending who they’re talking to in order to achieve that.

I hope the only part that’s true is that she’s preparing a surprise release album :gaycat6:

Just kidding, I’m very happy she’s doing well on what she loves to do. She LOVES acting and it’s really working for her. Everyone that I know and meet loves her acting career and wants to watch her movies. If that means waiting a bit more for music, as long as she doesn’t fall in depression again, I’m good

And Gaga was the cheapest one so yeah my point is valid

I don’t really get what they mean by come back as fully fledged pop star with big hits? Wasn’t that what Chromatica was supposed to be.

can’t she do both :rip: people are just mad she isn’t solely focused on being a pop star anymore

yall taking about her abandoning music when she just literally released a song two months ago + a jazz album last year + score a movie :deadbanana2:

she has 2 movies in the span of 5 years ffs

yall just dont get the gay pop bawps that yall crave from her and will act like her career is falling apart :deadbanana2: she's literally doing a pop show next week
