Okay, this is very niche but just about every actor who started on Disney or Nickelodeon and became a full time singer has that one song which establishes how they've grown into a more mature artist. I was thinking about some of these defining songs and realized that many of them are absolute pop gems. So, I thought I'd make a thread to appreciate them where we can discuss which ones y'all feel worked the best and whatnot. Some contenders:

I should've clarified that these song seem to be more sexually forward than their previous material. Obviously Skyscraper is an incredibly mature ballad (a beautiful one as well) but I felt like Cool for the Summer fit better with the rest. I mean going from Heart Attack to Cool for the Summer, and Who Says to Come & Get It is quite a departure in my mind

Party in the USA isn't mature in my mind, I mean it was designed to support a K Mart clothing line for kids, sure her performances of it were something else but the song itself wasn't much of a departure

Oh then for sure, DEMI's upbeat songs (particularly the singles) and the music videos were not exactly mature. I do reckon Selena's equivalent should be Good For You.

I think Who Says -> Come & Get It was much more 'shocking' than Come & Get It -> Good for You at least that's my interpretation

But I do agree, Love Me Harder could be a better contender

The Way was Ariana's first mature single, Problem the one that catapulted her into pop stardom, No Tears Left To Cry the first after achieving full artistic freedom, I don't see what Dangerous Woman is doing there

Dangerous Woman is literally a slightly darker (in sound) My Everything with a better tracklist order
