I hope it's really good. I'm very excited.

Me too! I literally grew up with Perfume, they truly are the best Japanese group.

I agree, I also grew up with them.

The 00s were pretty cool with:

Ayumi Hamasaki, OLIVIA, Utada Hikaru, Perfume, Anna Tsuchiya, MiChi, Miwako Okuda, Ami Suzuki, MEG.

Perfume is one the few acts that's still active AND consistent. I wish something could revive the rest of J-Pop but I kinda lost hope...

Things went drastically downhill since Namie retired, she left such a big gap... and avex's financial problems definitely didn't help.

Super OT: not sure if you're familiar with the 48 girls but Shiroma Miru recently graduated to pursue a solo career. She's debuting next month with a single that's a bit of a mix between Kumi, Namie and Itano Tomomi making K-Pop. It's quite good. Still, I do wonder how much promo she'll get. Japan has no """diva""" singer atm.

Too K-Pop for my taste.

Don't get me wrong, I don't dislike K-Pop but I feel like it's very gimmicky and too generic (as in the songs sound way too similar to each other) that really puts me off.

I miss the J-Pop golden days so badly, the artists and the music were very different from each other and there were artists that brought something new to the table every year.

Meanwhile K-Pop music today feels and sounds the same as it was in 2018.

I definitely understand the way you feel. Most of contemporary K-Pop is very watered down if compared to the past, which is due to its export-driven nature.

About the golden era of J-Pop, that was truly THE BEST! You might want to check out Kalen Anzai’s first couple of singles. Avex tried to recreate that era with her at first, sadly it didn’t work too well sales-wise.

Completely agree with you.

And I tried with Kalen because many people compared her music with the music of Ayu back in 1999-2003 but it didn't click with me.

The last interesting thing that happened to the J-Pop was with mini and her debut debut (and only lol) album "Electro Hardcore Banban Picasso" back in 2012.

It was a really excellent album with electropop bops that brought some excellent 80s synths and beats into the mix.

Too bad it sold poorly lol even though she was very supported by her label. And sadly the album is not available on streaming platforms.

I LITERALLY WORSHIP THAT ALBUM OMG. I listen to it quite frequently, especially when I’m working out. mini deserved WAY better, her music was and still is excellent.

More promo was needed back then tho, the whole narrative about her legs was definitely not enough.

Also I’ll forever scream at the fact that Ava Max used her haircut years later.

Maybe it's too soon to judge but it's easily my favorite of the album after Polygon Wave!! Excited for the MV

So far this album is full of bangers (except for Saisei :katie:)

Now wait a second :jonny5:Trust Nakata to be doing the only interesting stuff out of this never-ending 80s trend :jonny5:

Snippets of all songs. Seems like Mugen Loop has an entirely new mix? I'm glad since it was my least liked on the Polygon Wave ep

Drive’n The Rain sounds soo good omfggg :jonny:

Overall it sounds like a cohesive record expect for the cutesy tracks (Saisei being placed between PW and Spinning World only highlights how weak it is lol)

they never miss i fear, always instant and enjoyable. not feeling about MV and their choreo here but i really love the song, so good.

Spinning World is such a smooth, pleasant listen :jonnycat: This will definitely be their best album since Level 3. Even if the highs aren't as high as they used to be almost everything so far feels consistent enough.

out now (for my timezone)

The album flows a lot better than I expected. Even Time Warp album mix & Goodbye Plastic World, both I didn’t care for initially, sound good here. The 1-2 punch of Drive’n The Rain, Hatena Beat and Android& whew :gaycat:

Wow, not gonna lie, I thought this album would be very messy considering all the singles feel very different from each other. But this album really flow amazingly.

I was shocked to hear Saisei during my first play, I really thought this old single would be out of the tracklist lol but omg it sounds amazing here.

Time Warp new mix is better than the original, it slaps harder.

I still don't get what's the difference between Mirror Ball from the live mix and the album mix lol but it's a bop.

Good album.  About on par with JPN but not on the level of their 4 classics (first comp, game, triangle, and level3). Great return to form though.
