why has bieber been getting a pass from the black community since day one, and especially now more than ever. and it gets even worse since he’s always getting encouraged by all these artists that agree to collaborate with him and even ask him to feature on their songs...

I get that the machine working behind him will guarantee whatever he releases to become a hit, even if it requires shoving it down the general public’s throat day and night for however it takes, and no matter how much it costs, but, is the success really worth it?, is it really worth being a sellout and watching him appropriate a culture that’s not his, for the sake of a quick hit?

and let’s not start with that video that we’re all aware of, since with it or without it, his situation should be an issue, but with it, it gets even worse...

And say what you want but Justin makes bops and doesn’t pretend he’s an expert on the culture.  appropriation or not, he pays homage to black artists, puts them on his songs and then goes back to minding his Caucasian business. It’s the same reason Jack Harlow also gets a pass. 

Most Black people are focusing on other things outside of celebrities. Do not let Twitter have you guys fooled into thinking most of us give a f***. We don't.

The Black community knows Bieber is a walking identity crisis. He gets some attention cause he appreciates/likes black culture.

generally speaking most artists get a pass for stupid **** no one cares about. There’s a work subsection on Twitter that criticizes all artists for perceived failings, but the GP really doesn’t care.

When will you all realise that Black people on social media and the opinions from Black people on social media doesn’t represent reality? 
 

We’re not a monolithic group and we’re not all going to hold the same opinions, values and concerns. 
 

To most Black people, Justin Bieber is seen as a White man who loves Contemporary R&B/Soul music, whose way of singing is (more or less) moulded within the R&B style and who seemingly appreciates the wider culture itself. For those reasons, he is viewed as “cool” and/or “down”. He’s also collaborating with other popular Black artists and that’s helping his image and songs like “Peaches” are candy to Black music listeners also. 
 

It’s the same reason why most Black people still supported Justin Timberlake during “Nipple-Gate” and the years thereafter, despite the narrative spread on Black-based blogs/forums that he wasn’t to be supported by us because of what he had done to Janet Jackson. That didn’t stop him from being invited to the BET/Soul Train Awards, winning Black music awards and performing on stage with Black music legends. 

 

 

Also, the Black music industry doesn’t always represent the opinions of the Black community, as @Zoe_ @Armani? stated. 
 

Black radio/media will still go out of its way to support certain white artists (and even certain Black artists) even in the mindset of their public or personal controversies. 
 

The only time a White artist may be turned on is if everybody within the Black sphere is collectively against that individual for whatever reason ie. Vanilla Ice, Macklemore.

I don't know why people forget this... He's been a fan of R&B music since the start...

if anything Ariana is probably more accepted by the GP but she just doesnt actively market herself to the black community as much as Bieber
