I don't think he's the one seething and fuming when you are the one resorting to ridiculing a woman just trying to put her pieces back together and live her life. The fact of the matter is, if Gaga released Shallow as a solo single, it would have had Million Reasons level success which is fine but not the smash it was. It needed the hype of the movie and the studio machine to become ubiquitous. But more than that, have some ******* self respect. Stan wars aren't worth debasing yourself like this.

There are so many ifs here. Shallow is a huge and a classic song whether some of you like it or not. I don't get why some of you act like Bradley was a big recording artist before shallow. 

But if someone said Janet Jackson had a smash career because of her family's connections they would be the bad guys right?

OF COURSE it's a classic, no one is denying that. I have literally said it deserved to win song of the year that year. It is undoubtedly one of Gaga's signature songs. And sure, Janet did get her shot because of her name but it's what you do with it that counts. Latoya also got a shot but we all know how that went.

 

I don't know why people can't discuss these things without resorting toridiculing a woman that was a slave for 13 years and has admitted to having mental health issues.

tun was nexted really quick tbh, the fact it has 3 singles + 1 promo single and yet does like 2M daily on Spotify, Shallow outstreamed all of her singles despite never being a streaming giant at first

God these Britney stans that speak in Gaga are so delusional million reasons set up shallow, it’s a classic. Pop is done for her generation. Gaga knew that so pivoted to ballads and acting. Two stable straight loved classics. Only delusional ATRLers think these almost 40 year old pop girls can still put out future nostalgia’s hits as well as SNL and iTunes discount being major promo.    Gaga did everything right and now still has a career outside of IG  

 

OT:

ASIB as an entire era, TUN album will probably over take  on streaming more singles. Shallow feels bigger than that era alone though

I'm glad to see Gaga stans accept that she had to pivot from pop to soccer mom ballads to survive although she wasn't almost 40 after ARTPOP, she was 27.

Kesha and Katy both done after 2015 . Gaga survived through her actions. Now  Gaga still has potential to win more awards, have more films, maybe even another hit (that she has creative and writing input on I may add) whilst Katy ‘gives them everything they want’ and is totally N/A

Shallow is bigger than Ariana’s singles. Though as a whole, TUN era was definitely bigger than the ASIB era.

ASIB was attached to a movie with lots of promo whereas Ariana abandoned the album after release week so is this really a fair comparison?  but tuna has the better streams, recurrent stats, and more hits anyway

According to CM there's only a 500k difference in terms of units and on average TUN moves 3,500 more weekly units (again, despite only having half amount the songs ASIB has) 

 

Awards literally don't matter and even then ASIB is eligible for x100 more awards since it's attached to a movie 

 

Not you failing to understand my Sweetener point.  It's about consumption. Sweetener was only released one month prior to ASIB (breathin was released after TUN single for instance) and both eras sandwiched ASIB. While Gaga's 2018/2019 consumption was 8.8m Ariana's was 14m during the exact same time period.  Not counting other minor hit songs like boyfriend, monopoly, GAH remix,DTS, DCMA etc. Obviously it could have been a lot more focused and bigger had she focused on one thing and promoted it consistently like Gaga was for like half a year promoting ASIB.

last time I checked ASIB still charts WW while the other barely does

y'all act like Ariana dropped her album and left when she's been promoting everywhere from April 2018 to the last concert of her tour, the album also had 3 fully pushed singles WW and promo singles and other in between singles added to her era I guess while ASIB just ran its course with the movie and kept smashing whenever people saw the greatness of the movie, there's a reason why Shallow is getting more streams than 7R/TUN and why ARUTW/INLA get more streams than break up despite not being fully released to every demographic in this world

also not pushing the narrative of more songs which aren't streaming friendly and the OST having literal DIALOGUES in between

 

breathin (september 2018) was released before TUN as a single (november 2018) and yet despite new push from a new release sweetener couldn't even reach 100 weeks like her predecessor did...
